At this point I would somewhat seriously consider commissioning someone to design a keyboard that is just the Kinesis Advantage 360 Pro (including its build quality - meaning weight, heft, and durability), but with Choc v2 low profile switches (and the appropriate spacing for that switch type). Specifically the upcoming Swallowtail switches from Beekeeb.
My days of having time to muck around with keyboard builds/assembly/firmwares are long gone, but man, I'm rocking a Kinesis mWave while my 360 goes in for RMA repair, and the Choc v2 switches fix the spacing and stability problems of Choc v1 just right. I love everything about my KA360 except the key travel/height (MX is just way too much these days). This mWave is showing me I just want... exactly the KA360, but with Choc v2 switches.
Get on it, #MechanicalKeyboard nerds, you definitely have a minimum of one customer (probably for two #keyboards, at that) if you can make it happen 😛 Bonus points if you can somehow squeeze in index-finger trackpoints (or I'll accept trackballs, OR trackpads with inertia simulating a trackpoint/joystick) on each side for scrolling and cursor movement.
