Three female sparrows with soft, fluffy plumage sit together on a slender branch and have a chat. The two birds on the left are looking to the right, the house sparrow on the far right is looking to the left towards the other two. The delicate feathers of the small songbirds are painted in various shades of brown with loose, gentle brushstrokes. The background is painted abstractly in warm shades of brown, purple, earth and chocolate. The birds appear calm, creating a peaceful composition.
I originally painted the three sparrows as individual paintings, which can also be found in my collection of bird paintings (Sparrow Meeting parts one, two and three).
Here I have put the three paintings together in Photoshop to create a panoramic picture.
Three sparrows on a branch is a hand-painted acrylic painting in a unique panoramic format by the artist Karen Kaspar.

Pause

My week on crutches was partly spent looking desperately out the windows at the tasks I was supposed to do before winter. Not exactly creative or productive. Oh well, the garden can wait. And the tea is good.
