The ‘ghost’ approaches Violet and Patty and exclaims,“Boo!” Patty says,“That sheet isn’t very white, is it, Violet?”

They walk off and Violet concludes, “Mrs. Brown must be getting careless with her washing!” The ‘ghost’ watches them go and shouts, “Boo!!”

Snoopy looks at the ‘ghost’ puzzled as the ‘ghost’ sits on the curb next to him and exclaims,“Rats!”

Patty and violet are standing in front of a hope chest.

Patty says " This is my hope chest" Violet replies " What’s a hope a chest for?"

Still standing by the hope chest, Patty says to Violet " You save things in it that you"ll need when you get married"

Patty is leaning against her hope chest and Violet asks “What do you have in yours?”

The hope chest is opened and Charlie Brown is inside. Patty replies to Violet “Charlie Brown!”

Patty and Charlie Brown are walking down the sidewalk. She looks over at him and says,“You’re walking on the wrong side!”

They stop and she continues,“The man is supposed to walk on the side nearest the curb!”

He puts his hands akimbo and asks,“Why?”

They switch walking positions and continue walking. She looks in the windows they are passing and replies,“So the woman can look in the store windows!”

Violet walks along with flowers in her hand. She says,“I think I’ll give these flowers to Charlie Brown”

She approaches him sitting down reading and holds the flowers out to him. He turns to her frowning and exclaims,“I can’t accept flowers from a girl!!”

She stoops next to him and asks,“How would it be if you just snatched them out of my hand?” He replies,“Well…”

She walks off flowerless saying,“Charlie Barown is so manly!”

Patty is standing holding an envelope, she tells Charlie Brown who is sitting at a small desk wearing a paper hat, “I have a message for the captain”

Charlie Brown stands up and points and says, “He’s right over there, madam…”

Charlie Brown is sitting and Patty says, “But how can I be sure which one the captain is?”

Charlie Brown turns and looks at Patty and says, “His hat is made from the editorial section!”

He runs along and says,“My dad should be coming home from work pretty soon”

He starts to walk down the steps outside the door of the house. He continues,“He likes to have me meet him out by the gate…”

He leans on the gate surrounding the house and concludes,“I guess it gives him a feeling of security!”

Charlie Brown sits on the ground eating an ice-cream cone. He frowns at Snoopy jumps up and down in front of him with his tongue out. He exclaims,“I’ve never seen a dog who liked ice cream so much!”

His frown deepens as Snoopy’s antics grew. He says,“Hmm…”

Snoopy stops as he pushes the entire cone towards him and exclaims,“Oh, all right! Here!! Take the whole thing!”

As Snoopy lies on the ground with his paws up in the air, Charlie Brown turns to the reader and concludes,“He fainted!”

He rummages into the croquet box as Patty crouches across from him. He exclaims,“Hey, Patty, we’re short two wickets!” She asks,“Are you sure?”

Snoopy sits and looks up at her questioningly as she turns to look at him and says,“Hmm…”

He stoops in front of him and exclaims,“All you have to do is hold still…the game won’t last forever!”

The basic gag is recycled from the Li’l Folks strip from May 29, 1949:

She watches Charlie Brown tossing ice onto the lawn. He says,“Ice cubes! I scatter 'em on the lawn, and let 'em melt!”

She grimaces and Snoopy, sitting next to her, smiles as Charlie Brown shows her a small picture of herself mounted next to a large one of Snoopy. Charlie Brown says,“See? Right here!”
