<p>Antes y después. <br>Ya está segado el olivar. Un poco tarde porque no paró de llover y nos quedamos unos días sin una pieza de la desbrozadora. <br>Dejamos sin segar las siemprevivas, los pom de moro y los margenes, para que sirvan de comida y refugio a polinizadores y demás bichejos. <br>La hierba segada queda en el sitio, para ir haciendo suelo (mulching) integrando co2 en el suelo y protegiéndolo contra el sol de verano. Guarda la humedad y favorece la microrriza, que son las redes subterraneas de hongos que utilizan los árboles para comunicarse entre sí. Son como una inmensa red neuronal que se extiende bajo nuestros pies. A green heron pauses to preen. I like this one since it highlights the variety of feathers and since there are only 3 elements (dead branch, heron, sky)

A baby raccoon struggles to climb a stone step to be with its two siblings. Adorbs. The pack of 4 broke into my yard while mom was sleeping. She wasn’t pleased when she showed up since she’s super shy of humans. I left so she could get them.

A red-breasted merganser swimming by. This is a fav because I got a decent take on the feather coloring and textures, but mainly because of the drop of water.

A red-breasted woodpecker opts to leap from one branch to another rather than use its wings. I posted four sequential photos a few days ago. I was certain I’d get some spreading of wings. Instead, I got a unique leap.

<p>Golden Crown</p><p>15:30 late afternoon, mid-November in eastern Iceland, and the sun is setting in the south-west.</p><p>Looking north across Berufjörður, the mountains behind us are casting shadows onto the peaks on the opposite side of the fjord. Gradually they have crept up the faces of the mountains, and I have watched, spellbound.</p><p>A bizarre mountain named Stöng has a strange spiked pinnacle. For a perfect moment, only the very tip of it is sunset-lit.</p><p><a href="/tags/mountainsmonday/" rel="tag">#MountainsMonday</a> <a href="/tags/iceland/" rel="tag">#Iceland</a> <a href="/tags/photography/" rel="tag">#Photography</a></p>

A colour photo of a mountain beneath a slightly cloudy sky. The flanks are snowy but ridges of dark rock have been scoured clear of ice by the winds. The shoulders of the mountain are at roughly 25 degrees to the horizontal, and the top is a volcanic plug with upright sides and a jagged top. Low sunlight from behind the viewpoint is being obscured by a range of mountains at the viewer's back, and only this craggy tip is sunlit.

A lush canopy of vibrant green deciduous trees frames a central path through a dense, misty forest where profound silence prevails. The leaves overhead form a natural archway, filtering light and fading into a soft, glowing mist in the background. A simple dirt track, grassy in the centre, leads directly into the thick white mist, creating a strong sense of depth. Deep shadows at the bases of the trees in the foreground contrast with the ethereal brightness of the fog ahead.

A river flows through a flat and green valley. On the horizon stretches a mountain whose meadows and stones are bathed in an orange light by the setting sun.

A dark forest overgrown with ivy is populated by fireflies flying around. The fireflies are visible as yellow blurred dots and contrast beautifully with the bluish forest.

Unusual winter colours

View of fountain and grounds. Very green manicured grass in foreground. Beyond that, a flowering tree and small shrubs. Dense treeline in background. In the middle, a large fountain surrounded by stacked stone, with stone steps leading up to it. The water fills up decorative metal tubes open at both ends, which seesaw as the water fills and drains them. It is a sunny day with clear skies.

Red roses in the full flower of summer. The bushes are full and leafy green.

A hazy sky has smeared the sun, as the snow-dusted pines stand silently.

I liked the shapes and textures in this image: a retro art deco chair with an oversized oval backrest and a banana-shaped curved seat, in solid sunshine yellow smooth fabric. A houseplant's leaves are reaching in from the left. Also on the left is a solid cream white chair in a mire contemporary style, upholstery in a line-textured fabric. The juxtaposition caught my eye.
