Sun, sky and pines are mirrored on the almost completely still surface of the pond.

Much of the background is dark black and blue, with many stars sprinkled across with different colours and brightnesses, many showing the classic eight-pointed shape that comes from the JWST optics. The Dragon Jet itself is a swath of red, orange, and yellow emission spread horizontally across the image, with at least two crossing flows. The main flow resembles a Chinese dragon, hence the name.

<p>An abandoned former military base in East Germany</p><p>After 1945, Soviet forces converted the old German base into a closed military town. By the 1970s, around 75,000 soldiers and families lived here. It was abandoned in the mid-1990s.</p><p>Many relics of the Soviet occupation remain. A statue of Lenin stands near the entrance. There is also a large theatre, a decaying swimming pool and a ballroom. From the backlog from last October: I did the Old City Hall station tour. The tour is only open to members of the NY Transit Museum. Under the dark tiled arches, on a curved platform of an abandoned subway station. The station is lit by dim tunsten-colored lights. A train entered the station, and its bright headlights illuminated the tour guide on the platform.

<p>On Exoplanet 09774 these seeds have gained the name of Walking Apples. Plants don’t walk, (well, except for Triffids) but these ones do, sort of. Once dropped from the branch, the ‘legs’ move the seed along the soil upwards of 10 meters. There are no birds to spread the seed on this planet, which is probably why they walk. The seeds mostly trundle along at night, although we don’t know why at night, or how they know it’s night, although the nights do normally last 37 earth hours.</p><p><a href="/tags/scifi/" rel="tag">#scifi</a> <a href="/tags/exoplanet/" rel="tag">#exoplanet</a> <a href="/tags/seed/" rel="tag">#seed</a> <a href="/tags/nature/" rel="tag">#nature</a> <a href="/tags/photography/" rel="tag">#photography</a> <a href="/tags/magicinthemundane/" rel="tag">#magicinthemundane</a></p>

Sitting nestled in the leaves of a green bush there is a round green ball, that looks like a small apple in this photo. Hanging down from this seed/flower thing are tendrils. They look like octopus arms with tiny green hairs and dangle down like from a jelly fish. They look like they could be legs for walking. But only on a different planet. Maybe.

A late summer scene along a bike path. Verdant bushes line the side with trees and brush providing ample cover from the break winds.

The same path later in the autumn season. The leaves are turning brown and crinkly as you walk amongst them on the path. The trees are not showing very much red, but many shades of yellows.

An intense orange stripe outlines the horizon in the distance. Driftwood shapes are a silhouette in the early evening. Taken mid-September on the shores of the mighty St. Lawrence river at sunset.

Sunset on a main street. The sky is riotous with colour. We have blues, purples, pinks, oranges, and red. The city lights are on, and the scene is quite well illuminated. There are houses and businesses dotted around the block. A stop sign is visible slightly to our right. There is dramatic lens flare with an almost golden cast, cutting neatly across the first 1/3rd of this image on the left.

<p>A Second World War air raid shelter, filled with fascinating portraits scrawled on the walls.</p><p>Inside one of the chambers is a time capsule underground art gallery, of sorts. The walls are covered with around 20 portraits, mostly drawn in charcoal or soot. Many depict women with 1940s hairstyles, alongside soldiers and well-dressed men.
