I just listened to another episode of the Strange New Worlds podcast.
"Professor Mary-Jane Rubenstein joins us to talk about her book "Astrotopia: The Dangerous Religion of the Corporate Space Race," which explores the religious narratives that underpin commercial space exploration, and its connections to Star Trek."
Excellent conversation. Give it a listen!

So I've been thinking. Now, completely ignoring past, current, and future geopolitical realities of thinking more along the lines of what Spock did in #StarTrek to *unite Vulcans and Romulans, what if the goal, at least among a subgroup, should be to unite* #NorthAmerica, #CentralAmerica, and #SouthAmerica. One thing I am completely stuck on is what to name this new united community after. The right name would be inspirational. I'm stuck on that. A subculture could work towards this goal.
#SecretSantaAoNZ is this thing on?
Donkey is my nickname (after the annoying talking animal in #Shrek). Kāihe is #TeReo for donkey, or ass.
Things not listed in my bio/pinned posts, I’m a fan of:
• #Firefly
• #DoctorWho
• #Pixar Movies (the earlier ones, really)
• #Capybara (my spirit animal)
• #StarTrek (#StarWars is fun, but - if I had to choose just one - it’d be Trek. All of them except Enterprise)
• #Jacinda’s politics of empathy
Ummmm … not sure what else to say - it’s been a while since I last did #SecretSantaAoNZ back in the old days when the bad place was the good place.
Stephen Colbert joins #StarTrek Starfleet Academy as a voice actor 🖖
In 1993, DC Comics published a special issue of their Star Trek: The Next Generation comic. One of the stories was "Spot's Day", inspired by "Data's Day", in which Spot escapes Data's quarters and goes on a little adventure.
It was written by Diane Duane and is a treasure.
Bancales and their predators have evolved together for centuries. Whenever one starts winning, the other evolves to maintain equilibrium.
Then some 1980s bancales hitchhiked on two time travelling Sperm Whales. Their predators having long since evolved past being able to keep their numbers in check were unable to stop the population explosion.
James T. Kirk is responsible for an ecological disaster greater than that caused by the probe that started all this.
That was a very good episode. I laughed a lot! 😁 Very enjoyable watch #StarTrek #StrangeNewWorlds S03E08.
If you haven't seen it yet, make sure you do.
For now, of course, no spoilers.
