What #Trump is doing with the #Tariffs is another grift, yeah, maybe the largest one in world history. It's the opposite of a #PumpAndDump, they are wrecking the entire market and economy, top to bottom, so they can pick up every corporation, business, asset, property, farm, home in America at rockbottom prices, then lift the tarriffs and reap the profits. It's more like a giant #Pottersville.
At that point they have no need for laws, just private armies to enforce their decrees.

Just learned that a product I regularly buy from the UK is now 10% more expensive because of tariffs. It's nice to have a new 10% tax suddenly applied to something you buy (sarcasm)

They have to pay at the border for the product to cross into the US, they told me, and were fairly contrite about it (they apologized for the email and framed it as a "request").

In all the talk of US trade deficits forcing Trump et al. to erect tariff barriers to "rebalance trade", we've lost or ignored the fact that the US has an enormous digital trade surplus. See, for instance, this paper Estimating digital product trade through corporate revenue data. The US's main conventional export is currently petroleum, but it exports over twice as much in digital advertising. The US's overall "digital exports" are larger than the total exports of France, which is the world's 7th leading exporter. However, these numbers are not typically included in reports about trade deficits or surpluses.
