Feeling at a loose end now that #ChunkyFringe is done and all the TVs are packed way until the next event, so I went picking at an old scab, and figured out how to process a hidden internal channel 4 teletext service called IDENT from a file that’s been lurking on my hard drive since 2021 👀

Elsewhere, you’ve got talk shows, cooking clips, kids’ claymation, antiques analysis, soaps, news reports, psychic weather forecasts, and a Teletext-style Femtofax app with Personal ads, review columns, and assorted hot takes and message-board wisdom. There’s loads more besides, and the verisimilitude of the audio-visual experience is astonishing.

In the aftermath of my Teletext experiments on Amiga – which I totally believed to be a world’s first breakthrough – blog reader Martin contacted me to tell me about his own Teletext experiments back in 1992, with a working solution in 1994, making his setup probably the real world’s first Teletext output directly from the Amiga!

The link contains four Knightmare quests which were on Teletext. Eagle Quest and Swamp Quest are the two newly recovered ones.

In 1993, the classic CITV kids show Knightmare became a playable teletext adventure game, giving Bamboozle a week off. Digitiser’s own Mr Biffo had a direct hand in its creation - and with Sanja at his side, revisits it once again.
