#WritersCoffeeClub How’s your writing progress so far this year?

Working on the 11th novel of the series, Silhouette of Ravens, which has taken some turns I did not expect, but interesting ones. I have not been as productive in writing this past month, a bit more focussed on visuals. I have some illustration and artwork to do, and that always gives me a clearer view of the story in the end. Like this new cover design for 11.

My penchant for indulging in nature's bounty, straight from the stem, rivals that of an epicure. Thus, I cherish the halcyon days of late summer, when I can stroll through the verdant park, collecting jewel-toned strawberries and wild brambles. Such acts instil a profound sense of belonging; a tangible thread of connection to Mother Nature herself. It serves as a poignant reminder that the artificially conceived separation between humanity and the wild is nothing more than smoke and mirrors. Synthetic packaging of food adds a veneer of abstraction to these inherent connections. Thus, deep in the marrow of my existence, I stand, not as a distant observer, but as an integral part of this mystical orchestra, akin to the birds chirping their melodies and squirrels busily hoarding their provisions.

Therefore, in this present moment, I'd become a Johnny Appleseed of sorts, feasting on succulent apples whilst sowing their seeds, a harbinger of future orchards. Meanwhile, I'd blissfully partake in the delicate crunch of sunflower seeds, all the while scattering their counterparts in a serendipitous dance of simultaneous consumption and creation.

#ScribesAndMakers 15. How's your creativity going? Is there anything you would like help with?

I'm liking the zero pressure approach. Making some changes, and rediscovering the rough edges of sketches. I've been "finishing" too much. Need to relearn that rough and dynamic doesn't always mean unfinished. I spent far too many hours trying to "finish" this, only to like the rough sketch a lot more. So, I'm embracing it.

#WritersCoffeeClub Have you tried creating your own book cover designs?

I design and illustrate everything myself, but I am a bit of a professional. Sort of. More of an artist than an illustrator. I see creative writing as part of the same oeuvre. If that makes sense? It's a bit complicated to display at a museum, but the rigid divide between different creative fields seems entirely artificial to me.
