The Norton Anthology of English Literature has been thoroughly re- shaped and expanded to take account of the needs of students and their professors at the dawn of the third millennium. 《一千零一夜》，又译《天方夜谭》，Alf layla wa layla，本版严格按照 1835 年开罗版阿拉伯文善本“官方订正布拉克本”全译，依据原文分夜方式（以“夜”为单位是阿拉伯说书艺人的独创），诗歌全数译出，总计 1380 首，涉及性描写的段落全部译出。
凡“布拉克本”中没有的故事，一律列入“附录”，——其中包括脍炙人口的“阿里巴巴与四十大盗”、“阿拉丁与神灯”等——以保持该版本译本符合原文原貌。
