@prometheanbound I'm glad you shared that because I think that's why I was thrown off when trying to name what the film's approach felt like to me. If Lucas is fond of documentary, that explains why we're not always intimate/indulgent with different characters' emotional states while scenes play out. I feel good about how this rewatch went, so I've got enthusiasm for going into AOTC soon. I wanted to let TPM breathe a while before writing about it and rolling into the next film. I think that was wise of me because taking time to reflect on TPM boosted my affection for it higher than what I felt while watching. I'm also still avoiding delving much into the articles and video critiques you shared with me a while back since I think it's appropriate that I keep taking these movies in from my own perspective first.

@prometheanbound I'm more unfeelingly neutral on it than dislike. I just feel zero pull to give it my time or focus, outside of the occasions where somebody I know will write or talk about it fondly and that makes me curious about trying to click with it again.

@prometheanbound If it helps, I use that word more in the sense of being a literal 'piece' of writing, not so much a piece of art. I rarely, if ever, consider anybody's non-creative writing, including my own, to cross over into art territory.

@prometheanbound I like this piece because you make the game sound interesting (to me) in a way I wouldn't expect from looking at its surface. That's probably one of the best feelings to come away with from a writing about any game in general.

@prometheanbound I've tried playing this game a couple of times over the years but have yet to really click with it beyond some of its aesthetics. It's odd, too, because usually I can relate to why others like something even if I don't feel the same, but I don't think I've picked up at all on the heart of what this game has that resonates with so many people.

@prometheanbound I have all of the versions somehow, but I started playing around with the original last night because I've come to anticipate what you said about changing art styles and stuff in remasters and ports for games in general. I usually prefer seeing the original version of a game first, assuming I can get it running well enough. That screenshot really makes the remaster look dull. I guess they were going for an imitation realism look, but it makes the game seem more soulless.
