Unlike their recent improvisation series “wʌndərlænd” and “Scene” which dive into the unexpected moments of their daily lives and sound experimentation, or their widely-acclaimed film scores for “An Elephant Sitting Still” and “Wuhan Wuhan” which are pensive, meditative and precise, “Tempus” makes a very friendly and energetic gesture, asserting where Hualun, as a group of music deviants that have been constantly refining and re-inventing their own sound for nearly 2 decades, stand at the very moment. A sense of purpose can be easily felt through the dedicated selection and editing of the improvised materials, the condensed song structures, as well as the thoughtful sequencing of the tracks: Hualun conjure up a vast expanse of wilderness, which gradually becomes the backdrop for running horses, forests, manufacturing lines, TV screens, city lamplights, and sceneries of the decaying societies - it is as much an ode to the evolution of human civilization as a funeral toll for the uncertain future.
With the surprising presence of various rhythmic elements, the use of sampling, and most importantly, the vivid live instrumentation they honed during countless nights of closed-door improv sessions, “Tempus” is everything but a reoccurrence of any existing genre. Hualun's musical roots such as krautrock, punk rock, and experimental electronic music are fused with ambient, hip-hop, and even dance music that the city-dwelling members are (in)actively exposed to in the modern-day life environments, and thus melted into a "unperiodizable" amber of pure energy and excitement.

开场的“Yes! I Am A Long Way From Home”,从喃喃的记录片式的人声起步,慢慢地搅拌起低沉的Riff和清丽的弦音,然后在反复跌宕中,弦音的主旋律开始退居幕后,Mogwai敏锐地捕捉到声音和情绪达到高潮的交点,就在3:41秒的黄金分割点,狂沙漫卷的失真噪音拔地而起,前台的Solo扶摇而上,后台的和弦则开始反复推进,直到所有的音域重新恢复平静,直到心中的情绪慢慢尘埃落定。接踵而来的“Like Herod”,依旧如法炮制,先是两分半钟轻描淡写的弦音流动,而后,在经过短暂的类似终止性的间歇之后,噪音出其不意地扑向耳鼓,每次到这里我不禁心惊胆战,不知道那些心律衰竭的听众们该如何消化,更何况在这首将近12分钟的作品中,这样的安排还重复了一次,套用老崔的一句话,这声音真“像一把刀子”,近似于毫无节制的疯狂。“Katrien”紧凑的节奏下,终于有人声出场了,按照Mogwai的一贯风格,他永远都是躲在背景后面模模糊糊地哼唱,我无法听出来他在说写什么,因为那时候吉他的旋律和轰鸣完全占据了所有的空间和心智。而后登场的“Radar Maker”沉静了许多,键盘营造出的空旷声音,配合着偶尔能够察觉到的电子声响,彼此缓慢流动至尾,最后以略显嘈杂的自然声音结尾。第五首“Tracy”可能是这张专辑里最动听的歌曲之一,轻盈的吉他、不缓不急的鼓点和摇摆不定的电子轰鸣浑然一体,制造出遥远而空灵的未来感。而后的“Summer”是他们早先发表过的同名单曲的最初版本,依然传承了Mogwai静噪结合的特点,从静如止水到铺天盖地,怦然心动的声响滚滚而出源源不绝。“With Portofolio”可以说是Mogwai对声音大胆的试验,先是键盘制造的轻柔慢缓的清脆声,背景起伏不定的噪音若隐若现,等到键盘消失不见,背景的噪音暴风骤雨般从左耳轰炸到右耳,仿佛要用巨大的能量把大脑的所有神经彻底蹂躏一番。Arab Strap的Aidan Moffat的声音出现在“R U Still In 2 It”中,在软绵绵的吉他声中,喃喃自语的Aidan冷静地哼唱着被恋人抛弃的无奈和痛楚。紧随其后的“A Cheery Wave From Stranded Youngsters”在钢琴和鼓充满立体感的氛围中继续释放着人类内心空旷的情感,随意的蒙太奇式的剪接编排,各种乐器层叠的呤呤细语被放大成遥远而苍凉的回响。最后的“Mogwai Fears Satan”好像Sonic Youth1988年《Daydream Nation》的延续,悠远的笛声和凝重的鼓音飞翔在海潮般时起时落的噪音流中,而我们只有继续扭曲着,痛苦着,缠绵着……Mogwai用《Young Team》特有的声音,把隐藏在尘世中无奈的情感全部压成齑粉,而后再轻飘飘地撒向空中,让脆弱的灵魂随风而去。

声子虫 2025 第三张专辑《遗心病》,取材自团员亲近之人发病的经历,并回望岁月在你我身上的带离,风格融合器乐后摇滚、电风琴、自由爵士、弦乐、Darkwave 实验电子声响、诗歌童谣,塑造末世映画般的音景群像。
《遗心病》是一张六首歌概念相连的专辑,歌曲从患者、陪伴者、疾病、宿命的视角,交互诘问与吞噬,叙述病发后的困兽之斗、治疗期的副作用、命悬一线的刹那,以及状似痊愈后,集体垄罩在复发恐惧里的遗心症候。
《遗心病》全辑由吉他手柯明与卢律铭共同作曲、声子虫编曲、卢律铭制作,在台北传奇录音室 112F Recording Studio 录制。较诸前作更显成熟破格,不仅强化吉他旋律性、鼓奏的变化性,也以管弦器乐、电子声响进行非常规的演译缀饰,为每首歌确立情绪相连却不感重复的递近章节。
开场〈破体〉恢弘壮烈、〈放射线治疗〉带有急骤缓煞的闪烁速度感。〈副作用〉邀请韩国诗人歌手李泷,哼唱韩语童谣及关于生死的诗词,融入“狐狸”角色亦俱女性发声视角。
标题曲〈遗心病〉在锋利的提琴音色中,迸出残肢血腥味,却也以电风琴和谢明谚的萨克斯风独奏,为生之欲下注解。〈一命〉如蓄力一拼的回光返照,至终篇〈解药〉以温昫始、恐惧终,徒留半生的余悸犹存。
生命被疾病重建,我们已不再是我们。音乐能为所有痛苦挣扎的人们留下什么,唯有走过、试过后方能知晓。由“见本生物”打造的专辑设计,以外肤色黑纸印与细胞变形字体,呼应潜伏的病征与受侵蚀人体共生。
光的背后有影,黑暗随时会反扑,绝境让我们意识到变化之不复返,可在废墟中或许我们更能懂得爱与珍惜。

從2012年首張專輯《午夜城》至《真面目》之間的十年,台灣、世界、以及人們生活的樣態都已歷經了巨大變動。社群媒體從推翻極權的解放者變成放大極端言論的回聲泡泡,一場戰場關閉,另一個戰場接著開啟,社會運動風起雲湧後反抗者與掌權者翻轉,工作與休閒的區別只剩眼球從一個螢幕移到下一個螢幕。種種事物的真實面貌,被海量的資訊沖刷而模糊難辨。這些年間聲子蟲對於媒體、社會、山林、土地的觀察,切換在不同視角之間,試圖發掘被煽動的標題、黑箱的權力結構底下,真實的、被遮蔽的本質。
專輯英文名稱《Understory》既是生態學中的下層植被,但也有蘊含「被覆蓋的故事」的雙關。下層植被是在森林樹冠層之下,地面之上的植物們,站在遠處眺望時不會見到,唯有進到山林之中,才會發現在樹林的表層底下,仍有這麼多的植物藉著穿透樹冠層的光線生存著,在層層的遮蔽之下仍盡力接住每束陽光。
整張專輯引領聽者從滿是鑿斧的人為建構出發,進入林間,隨著海拔向上攀升,沿途的下層植被間則有一首首蕨類的形貌顯露,在越過山頭與後,回到山腳回望。聲子蟲誠實地將細膩的觀察轉為或輕盈、或厚重、或寬闊的樂音,沿途的領會則全然交給聽者詮釋。
闊別十年後,聲子蟲在《真面目Understory》中將這十年間的觀察與反思,鋪出一條引領聽者往高處跋涉的山徑,在廣闊的聲響風景中,俯瞰人們與社會、與自然互動。

In 1995, Mauro Pezzente moved into a loft with his then-girlfriend in the Mile End of Montreal. Pezzente used the flat as a performance venue, dubbing it the Gallery Quiva. Around 1996, fumes from the mechanic's garage below the loft forced them to vacate it. Shortly after their departure, Efrim Menuck moved into the space and established Hotel2Tango, serving both as a recording studio and practice space. There, in 1997, the original recording of F♯ A♯ ∞ took place. By this time, the band had reached an unwieldy 15 members. In preparation of the album, they trimmed their numbers to ten.
The culmination of material spanning back to 1993 resulted in two lengthy songs, each about 20 minutes in length. After the record's release, the band became interested in touring the United States. In order to make headway, they sent a copy of their album to the Chicago-based record label Kranky. Impressed by the recording, Kranky offered to re-release the album on compact disc. The band quickly returned to the studio and re-recorded the album, which was released in June 1998. Changes to the album included the addition, subtraction and reorganization of material, resulting in three tracks and slightly over an hour of music.
All of the tracks feature a number of field recordings and sampled sounds, once referred to by David Keenan of The Wire as "eschatological tape loops." Therefore, the overall theme of the album is often pinned as apocalyptic. Indeed, English director Danny Boyle was heavily inspired by the album during the making of 28 Days Later. During an interview with The Guardian, he explained, "I always try to have a soundtrack in my mind [when creating a film]. Like when we did Trainspotting, it was Underworld. For me, the soundtrack to 28 Days Later was Godspeed. The whole film was cut to Godspeed in my head."

The opening track, "The Dead Flag Blues", begins with an ominous introduction which originates from an unfinished screenplay by guitarist Efrim Menuck. Backed by a string melody, the speaker describes a derelict city, where the government is corrupt and the inhabitants are drunks. The introduction is followed by the sounds of a train and high-volume suspended noise. This eventually develops into a Western-themed melody, and is capped off by an upbeat section which includes glockenspiel, violin, and slide guitar.
The second track, "East Hastings", is named after East Hastings Street in Vancouver's blighted Downtown Eastside. It begins with bagpipes reprising the theme of "The Dead Flag Blues" and backing the shouts of a street preacher. The sermon slowly quiets, and is replaced with the movement "The Sad Mafioso...", an edited version of which appeared in the film 28 Days Later. The movement also contains a brief portion where the band quietly sings in a rare occurrence of vocals.[α] The track concludes with a series of electronic noises and buzzing until throbbing bass takes over.
The final track, "Providence", is considerably longer than the first two, coming in around 30 minutes in length. James Oldham of NME described it as "part The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and part Spiritualized drone freakout."The introduction features a vox pop interviewee who references "A Country Boy Can Survive" by Hank Williams Jr.[β] The speaker is quickly replaced with a cello piece accompanied by glockenspiel, violin, and horn. Percussion is added to the melody which peaks, and is continued by a distorted singing woman performing Hazel Dickens' Gathering Storm. A quasi-military tune follows and is eventually taken over by the sung phrase "Where are you going? Where are you going?" The voice is sampled from the song "By My Side," from the 1970 musical Godspell. A collage of sounds and drones then round off the track. After a period of silence, a brief coda named for the American musician John Lee Hooker is performed.

Ohio has long been known as a source of wonderful instrumental music: Six Parts Seven, Silencio, and Mortimur, just to name a few, but people often overlook the fact that these bands develop independently of the rest of the country's instrumental bands. Six Parts Seven is one of the landmark instrumental bands in the US and Silencio was/is so unique that it's scary. If These Trees Could Talk happily joins the ranks amongst their buckeye bretheren. Although their debut EP follows the HydraHead and Neurot school of thought, it's fair to say it's not a direct result as much as they share common influences: Pink Floyd, King Crimson, and other progressively minded rock bands. If These Trees Could Talk is certainly a rock album, although the use of reverb and delay make the music very amicable to fans of "post-rock" music. The band's potential is just as large as its appeal -- with a solid foundation to build upon, If These Trees Could Talk was a variety of viable options for its next record.

World's end girlfriend是我最喜欢的日本音乐人,清晰明了的post-rock,不张扬,但却明白的凸显出不同寻常的个性。如同童谣诗人一般充满幻想,但却又带有淡淡的忧伤。

Katsuhiko Maeda(aka World's End Girlfriend)从十岁开始,沉醉於父亲的古典音乐收藏,12岁开始试著用吉他,钢琴,录音机开始作曲,到发行专辑之前,已经累积六百首以上的曲子。首张专辑「Ending Story」(2000)静謐、耽美而梦幻,听起来很有冰岛乐队mum的感觉,而WEG的吉他与弦乐,情感更为浓烈。第二张专辑「Farewell Kingdom」(2001)仍贴近电子音乐, hip hop节奏与拼贴、可爱Nintendo电玩旋律,最大的特色是弦乐与钢琴。近来,受到加拿大后摇滚乐队Godspeed You Black Emperor!影响的成分加深,编制更为壮丽。
World's End Girlfriend是目前备受曯目的日本新生代音乐家。2000年 他在半野喜弘(贾樟柯《站台》配乐者)厂牌发行首张专辑,后在Noble陆续出版Farewell Kingdom 与 Dream's End Come True,成功融合各类型音乐风格并传递出浓烈的悲剧性格与浪漫色彩,从而奠定他在techno、post-rock、avant pop 与electronica乐迷心目中的独特地位 。2002年WEG首度受邀至巴塞隆纳参加全球知名的音乐与多媒体艺术节Sonar。 去年夏天在台北、香港与澳门的三地巡回则让华人听众初次感受他峰回路转、充满电影感的现场演出。
