The ethereal sounds on OTHER mark a moment of truth for Lim Giong. Compared to his sporadic "phantom persona" put together by media over the years, this work spontaneously coming out of his personal "psychological state and imagination", is more representative of the real Lim Giong today.
The ex-pop singer, who left the entertainment world at the peak of his career, has long since changed course to become a low-key producer behind the scenes. In recent years, he has become a "music worker", frequently painting his musical brushstrokes on the cinematic worlds of directors such as Hou Hsiao-hsien, Jia Zhang-ke. Although carrying a similar aura of subtlety, the 3 tracks of OTHER are distinctive from the OSTs Lim composed for films - here, he expresses with a free state of mind, using the simplest ways to depict the most profound, which he experienced when surrounded by the earthy and floral scents in the great outdoor.

纽约电子乐队SRP的最新专辑Brave New World Symphony《自美丽新世界交响曲》是完全在2020新冠疫情期间制作的。从3月中开始，乐队一直囿于布鲁克林的公寓里，在日夜不停的救护车呼啸声中，针对所观察到的个人生活和社会的变化，创作了一系列曲目。
R0 代表传染系数。这首曲子选用了5个模拟合成器的音色，对应五个疫情地1-8月的统计数据，每拍的频率对应一天的死亡人数，由此产生每个音色的旋律。
Involuntary Prophet (《非自愿的先知》)是一首关于先知的歌。如果有选择，大概很少有人会自愿当先知。人们在面临灾难预言的时候经常表现出难以置信的侥幸心理，对于那些执意告知令人不悦的消息的信使还会产生敌意。切尔诺贝利事件如此，气候变化问题也是如此。今年春天，在美国的许多华人也都体验到了当先知的感觉。
Present Continuous (《现在进行时》)是一首关于疫情给美国社会带来的一系列急剧变化的歌曲。歌的前半部分由进行曲的前奏带出一系列经过数码改变的人声采样，交织成一个充满了冲突、疑问、失真和卡顿的“合唱”，意喻着积聚已久的矛盾和能量，以及对新秩序和可能性的揣摩。 在歌的后半部分，这些焦虑让位于歌词中描绘的一系列突兀改变所形成 的新常态。
Quest for the Silver Bullet (《寻找银子弹》)是一首关于疫苗研发的曲子，所以加入了很多实验室设备和仪器的声音采样。疫苗研发实验室是一个充满创造力、勇气、智慧与博爱的空间，仅以这首歌向世界各国从事疫苗研发的科学家致以敬意。
Hart Island Hymn (《哈特岛颂歌》) 哈特岛是纽约的集体公墓，春天疫情最严重的时候许多来不及被认领、处理的的尸体都被匿名下葬在那里。所以这首歌采用了葬礼合唱的形式，告慰那些在孤独中离世的人。
Balcony Garden (《阳台花园》) 疫情隔离期间，阳台、天台、后院这些连接室内与室外的空间在城市里变得格外可贵。SRP的主创也在公寓小小的阳台 上建立了一个能与自然连接的小花园。播种、发芽之后慷慨生长的植物不但丰富了食物来源，还引来了鸟类、松鼠、蜜 蜂、瓢虫等各种生命，缓解了人的物种孤独。这首歌赞美水滴、阳光、土壤、动植物的生长给心灵带来的巨大慰籍。

Even the cover art is great, playing with the same fake tabloid style that Guns N' Roses tried but with funnier results. Beginning with a semi-echo of the start of Propaganda, with the a cappella "Gratuitous Sax" leading into the surging, well-deserved European smash hit "When Do I Get to Sing 'My Way'," Gratuitous Sax & Senseless Violins broke a near seven-year silence from Ron and Russell Mael -- the longest period of time by far since their start in between major releases. Rather than sounding tired or out of touch, though, the brothers gleefully embraced the modern synth/house/techno explosion for their own purposes (an explosion which, after all, they had helped start with their work during the late '70s with Giorgio Moroder). Solely recorded by the Maels with no outside help, Sax keeps that same, perfect Sparks formula -- Russell's sweet vocals soar with smart and suspect lyrics over Ron's sometimes fast and furious, sometimes slow and elegant melodies, here performed with detailed electronic lushness. They make their style live yet again, feeling far fresher here than on Interior Design. "(When I Kiss You) I hear Charlie Parker Playing" finds Russell rapping (!), "I Thought I Told You to Wait in the Car" has a great building chorus, and "Let's Go Surfing" helps wrap up the album with a wistfully triumphant call to arms. "Tsui Hark" is the one slight departure from the formula, featuring the Hong Kong director Hark himself giving a brief autobiography while a colleague speaks in Chinese. Though some longtime fans groused that they missed the more rocked-up Sparks of the early '70s (or early '80s) in comparison, all in all, Gratuitous Sax & Senseless Violins is a well-deserved return to form from a band which has deserved far more attention from the musical world, or the world at large, than they have received.

制作人罗可居在新专辑中继续探索electroacoustic的更多可能。在创作瓶颈期的罗可居从公共版权领域收集了大量古典乐录音，以“窃取”为出发点寻找出口。这些素材经过拼贴处理已近乎不可辨识，但仍留有管弦乐和古旧录音的特殊材质，再结合细心叠加的电子氛围和节奏，构成了一系列诡异而迷人的声音图景。

自2014年中 Hello Nico 樂團發行首張 EP《浮游城市》後，持續活躍於大小音樂活動與展演空間，並獲得華人地區最大創作平台「Streetvoice 街聲」2014年度單曲排行榜冠軍，儼然成為眾所矚目的新星。樂團成立兩年來，歷經磨合、調整與無數現場經驗的累積，終於由黑市音樂製作發行首張完整專輯。從詞曲創作、編曲、錄音到後製，每一步都耐心琢磨、融合與妥協，把握自己原本的味道，從既有部分中尋求創新，使曲風更為多元，編曲的完整性也獲得提升。專輯歷經半年製作，到訪四間專業錄音室進行歌曲錄製。每首歌曲分別交由八位業界專業人士進行混音，母帶混音則交由曾負責 Coldplay、Muse、Acade Fire 等世界知名樂團之唱片母帶混音工程師 Ted Jensen，於紐約 Sterling Sound 錄音室製作，在聲響呈現上展現了細膩而豐富的層次。
《熟悉的荒涼》是一張極具影像感的專輯，在聆聽的過程，滿足了「視覺的想像空間」。電子環境音效、流暢旋律與節奏、霧氣繚繞，玩盡各種聲音的轉折實驗。層層疊疊的音牆像暗潮洶湧的海水，無間歇刺激著聽覺神經；穿透力十足的電子顆粒此起彼落，穿插全曲迷離人聲則像一陣微風，精準地將聽衆引導至歌曲所要營造的氛圍。壓抑與沈溺依舊，卻多了竄流鼓譟的律動，讓原本灰白的色澤增添更為鮮亮的圖像。飄散迷離夢幻音場，漂浮在靜謐之中，交織一種徘徊虛幻和真實間的絕美畫面，如同電影配樂揮灑出戲劇般的效果，隨其音符散落一地的游走夢境邊緣，而每個人的夢境卻又如此不同。歌詞內容仍舊環繞著人與記憶、慾望和傷害，卻跟告解一樣坦白，也如懺語似地溫柔。旋律則成為型塑記憶、勾勒形體的一部份，像是日常生活的原聲帶，伴隨著所有美好或殘忍的一切。在主唱詹宇庭既穿透又迷離的嗓音中，情感隨著歌曲蔓延，縈繞於每個人心中的記憶與遺憾。

A the beginning of 2015 my friend Milo heard some of these songs and told me about the film. I watched it and was dumbfounded. I felt the aesthetic made complete sense with the strange themes I had been obsessed with over the past couple of years. I was curious to see what my songs sounded like when synced with the images, which turned into a 2-day bender where I soundtracked the entire film, creating a weird collage of the ambient music I had made over the last 2 years.
The film gave me a structure to follow and themes to stick to. It gave clarity to this music that was made mostly out of and through chaos. It also gave me the balls to put it out… I wanted to do some screenings but the guy who owns the rights to the film only wants the original version of the movie out there. I can’t blame him, I’m sure Paradjanov wouldn’t want some kid in NY pissing all over his masterpiece and calling it a soundtrack! I’ve listened to it a couple of times without watching the movie and I think it stands on its own. Or at least I hope it can!
