1944年12月，位于比利时阿登森林的美军第二步兵师康提中尉命令麦瑟森中士带部下运送火腿至前线。途中麦瑟森小队遭遇德军袭击，车辆、物资被毁。在往营部撤退中，意外传入一德军原子弹试验基地，在基地找到一名负伤的美军情报员，情报员临死前强烈要求他们深入仍由德军占领的斯图加特破坏德军的原子弹计划。随后，麦瑟森小队出发执行危险、艰巨的任务……最终他们运回一颗德军制造完毕的原子弹，顺带还解救了一大帮战俘。

2020年4月25日 评论 a review of 英雄连 - World War II as imagined by a bunch of 12 year olds. The action sequences seem they like they were pulled straight from the minds of children playing army, as characters stand wide out in the open and mow down waves of Nazis while firing from the hip. It's ludicrous and very bloody, which could have been fun had the whole thing not been so repetitive. The film jumps from one similar feeling shootout to the next with the location being the only thing that really changes. The downtime in-between is dedicated to the alternate history plot where Hitler is in the process of putting the finishing touches on the first atomic bomb. An interesting concept that's brought down by dull characters and some of the corniest dialog I've ever heard. It's also one of those movies that's embarrassing to have associated with gaming. So many filmmakers have treated gamers like we're all a bunch of horny, exclusively straight male teenagers that need little more than near non-stop action and maybe a gratuitous nude scene to be entertained. Something that can be seen in the likes of DOOM , Hitman , and now this which have adhered to both conciets. For example, there's a unnecessary scene where the main, total pubescent fantasy protagonist sees the one female to have a significant role in this naked as she's getting into a bath and proceeds to gawk at her in a transfixed state. Yet, despite him being literally being a complete stranger to her at this point, she's doesn't seem terribly bothered by it at all. I guess because he's cute? So on top of not being very good, the film helps further perpetuate the bad stereotypes often associated with those who play video games by pandering to what is only a small portion of the much more diverse range of people that would have touched the PC title this is based on.

2019年11月28日 评论 a review of 霸主 - You know, it's entirely possible to make a sensitive protagonist that's not a useless wimp. Unfortunately, Overlord didn't get this memo as all its lead's emotions prove good for are repeatedly screwing things up for everybody and making eyes at the local French girl. It's like Julius Avery decided to take Finn from Star Wars and make him twice the hapless idiot without any of the charm that made him a likable doofus. The rest of the cast fares no better as they all get stuck playing overused stereotypes that are painfully underdeveloped. That whole Nazi zombie premise? Yeah, that never comes to fruition. It takes until the darn near end of the movie to see any of these mutated freaks, and even then it's only really the big baddie himself who gets to do anything. The majority of the running-time is instead dedicated to watching the characters hide in an attic from German troops that are apparently deaf to gunfire and screaming. Not exactly riveting cinema. The film looks great though. The gore effects are incredible and the underground laboratory looks like it was ripped straight from Call of Duty . It even gets the tone right by never taking itself too seriously and having something of a knowing sense of humor. The action just isn't as good as the presentation though, and that's a huge letdown. I've seen a lot of people compare Overlord to a videogame, but don't expect it to deliver the feeling of actually getting to play through one. This is more like watching all of the cutscenes and then skipping right to the final boss battle, which isn't much fun.
