2022年6月14日 评论 a review of 暗夜博士:莫比亚斯 - How did Tyrese Gibson get up those stairs so fast? Kinda blows my mind a little that a lot of the people who hate this are the same ones who actively embraced Sony's first entry in their Spider-Man-less, villain-centric cinematic universe, Venom . The flaws in both films are basically identical. Weak action, directors unsuited for the task, and a rushed progression of events that leads to the protagonists coming to terms with their new situations far too unbelievably quickly. Morbius 's biggest difference being that rather than just serving as another generic, wannabe copycat of the MCU's established formula, it instead is more reminiscent of vaguely gothic, dark fantasy/horror schlock like the Underworld series or any of the other vampire action flicks that were popular back in the 2000s. Meaning that there is an audience for it. What this really lacks when compared to the true Marvel offerings constantly vying for our attention in theaters or on Disney+ is a reason to get invested in it for anything more than its displays of superhuman powers. The title character never faces any internal conflict because of what he's become or shows any signs of remorse over doing things like accidentally hospitalizing his love interest. Jared Leto gives a performance lacking his usual flair. Delivering lines in a monotone manner completely devoid of emotional expressiveness. Perhaps as some form of attempted revenge or recompense for all of us (rightfully) lambasting his turn as the Joker in 2016's Suicide Squad . Luckily, there's Matt Smith here to make up for it, who not only appears to be having a blast, but actually plays his role with enough dedication to effectively convey the villain's motivations and frustration with his lot in life so that they land with some real weight the few times the script allows for it. Plus he's got some sick dance moves to boot. Without that hook to pull you into the story on a personal level, it's up to the visual effects and set pieces to keep you engaged. Both of which are competent, but still lag behind what we've come to expect from modern superhero cinema. Every violent confrontation basically just consists of watching people get slammed into by a cloud of purple smoke and Sony is yet again showing middling graphical fidelity in their live-action releases, which you wouldn't think was a possibility given the standards set by the company's gaming consoles. Then there's Daniel Espinosa to consider who's work behind the camera also gets the job done, but leaves something to be desired with the way he makes each battle really short and always featuring a weird slow motion shot. He even uses an old iris scene transition early on that felt so out of place I couldn't help but laugh. Sony Pictures Entertainment needs to step its game up. This resembles the second-rate comic book blockbusters we used to get from everybody not named Sam Raimi before Iron Man came out and changed the game forever. There are a few noteworthy qualities to be found. Particularly the multiverse insanity of the two post-credit stingers. However, it's entirely skippable regardless because of its need for better writers, stronger CGI, and most importantly (I can't believe I'm saying this) a longer running time so that they're actually developing the material instead of simply racing through it. The monsters at the core of the plot do provide the potential for this to garner a small following more legitimate than the online meme community currently ridiculing it, made up of those who enjoyed movies like Victor Frankenstein , Queen of the Damned , or Van Helsing . If the studio doesn't get a handle on things soon though, its dreadful reception paired with the equally as lackluster results of the two symbiote outings could end their emerging cinematic universe before it has a hope of becoming the full-blown franchise they're so desperately hoping it will.
