这支如雷贯耳的工业新金属乐队至今为止发表了四张录音室专辑。在2004年出版《The Subliminal Verses》之后,乐队每个成员都放了长假,有的忙着自己的生活,有的帮着做一些旁支乐队或个人作品。因此专辑录制工作拖到去年底才开始,到今年1月结束,本想2月份就发行,但乐队听了混音之后仍不满意,于是又回到录音棚返工,所以耽误了这么久。
新专辑不会像上一张那样偏重Thrash metal,当中呈现出大量吉他solo,乐队成员都觉得这样做下去的空间越来越窄,于是想在歌曲当中加入一些木吉他的成分,以及旋律优美的演唱。
另外值得一提的是,专辑将出版一个限量特别版。加入一些3首赠送歌曲,以及一张收录了乐队现场和排练过程的DVD,另外最值得珍藏的是一40多页的小册子,解释了专辑的整体概念。

2026年1月28日 评论 a review of 林中怪人 - Everything starts off rather weird in this bit of horror excellence. The longer it progresses the more unsettling it gets. Before you know it things get terrifying. This is full blown stalker hell. All brought to life by two fantastic performances, excellent direction, and an incredibly disturbing plot that's full of mystery.  Best of all there's a noticeable sense of humor here and it doesn't manage to get in the way of the terror. The jump scares seem used just as much for comic relief as they are for scares. The movie does rely a little too much on them for the latter unfortunately. The real scares here come from the mystery and the wonderfully creepy performance from Mark Duplass.  It's a film that's great at making you wonder just what the heck is actually going on, as well as keeping you on the edge of your seat to see what will happen next. With a genuine sense of creepiness and originality, horror fans would be bereft to miss it.

2022年11月19日 评论 a review of 疾速追杀 - It may seem weird to call John Wick a borderline perfect movie as it's a fairly by the numbers revenge tale not untypical for the genre at all, and the films we tend to classify as masterpieces are usually about or at least do something new or out of the ordinary. Granted, Wick does have its own special little touches in the form of things like its hero's motivations and ties to a larger network of criminals/assassins that was begging to be explored further in the sequels (which they of course delivered on) to help set it apart, but nothing to truly distinguish it as particularly innovative in comparison to its peers. Rather, it's simply how well it does everything from the meticulously crafted action sequences to creating one of modern cinema's best protagonists that makes it worthy of such high praise. The title character is a heartbroken, grieving man who by random chance is brutalized by a group of thugs painfully (for them) unaware of both who he is or the life he once lived that take away his only remaining hope at finding any sort of peace. Despite how much the film tries to rush past this early establishing portion in an effort to hurry up and get to the bloodbath we all really showed up for, it's nonetheless effective at allowing us to empathize with the man. Those who say Keanu Reeves can't act, an understandable argument I'll admit, have obviously never seen the moment here where he's choking back tears while reading the letter from his recently deceased wife that's attached to her last gift for him. This isn't at all an entirely sappy experience however. The true tone is cleverly revealed as people quickly begin freaking out when they realize what the actions of these young gangsters have reawakened. Wick is an absolute force of nature dispatching anyone foolish enough to try and get in his way with ruthless efficiency in thrilling displays of violence. A coolness factor was restored to Reeves here that he hadn't been associated with since the original Matrix trilogy concluded back in 2003 with the way he does things like staring into a victims eyes to watch their life fade away after delivering a knife to the gut or never failing to double tap. There's a singular flaw to all of this that's relatively minor, but stands out to me regardless. Given how savage we see him be with a bunch of regular goons up to that point, witnessing Wick dispose of the main bad guy directly responsible for his pain so quickly that the plot's secondary villain actually thanks him for "making it fast" is a bit disappointing. Sure, he shoots him in the gut first to stop him from running, but it would have been appreciated if a little more fury was dealt out specifically to his primary target, especially considering how invested we the audience get in the whole affair. Other than that though? Flawless. I have nothing to complain about. This is one of the most enjoyable action flicks I have ever watched and boasting a hero with motivations viewers can really get behind. Honestly, this is America's The Raid: Redemption .

2020年2月2日 评论 a review of 格蕾特和韩塞尔 - The Suspiria of this generation. Oz Perkins' dark twist on the classic fairy tale showcases the same kind of slow burn, eerie horror his previous works are known for. Only now with a hallucinatory effect brought on by a use of vibrant colors, mind-bending camera angles, and an oppressive soundtrack. Gretel & Hansel doesn't just resemble Dario Argento's masterpiece stylistically however. As it too features a plot centered around magic, witches, and the manipulation of young women. It can also be just as difficult to figure out. It's easy to keep track of what's going on at the surface level, but Perkins and Hayes have loaded this with subtext that's more difficult to decipher. A few themes do stick out, but the deeper meaning of it all may have alluded me. I don't feel this is a fault of the writing despite some elements of the story coming off as jumbled or confusing. Instead just a lack of understanding on my part. Rather than delivering big scares Perkins creates an anxiety inducing atmosphere and lets us writhe in agonized anticipation over that which which never actually arrives while tormenting us with surreal and disturbing imagery reminiscent of Silent Hill . For some this will feel like all foreplay and no orgasm. However, as a fan of this kind of paranoia creating, expectation subverting approach to horror I found the movie to be very effective at getting under my skin and sending spiders crawling up my spine. An early contender for best horror movie of 2020.
