8.5 (8 ratings) The Clientele
release date 2001-01-01 publisher: Phantom Sound & Vision
Every once in a while one hears a rustling in the bushes. A buzz if you will. All your friends are talking about this 7 inch they found, and how this band is going to change the world, or at least has already changed theirs. Such is the nature of the organic groundswell surrounding London's The Clientele. These three British lads create an enchanting sound that is haunting, fragile, sublime and somehow strangely tragic. This version includes 3 tracks unavailable on the import only CD (these 3 tracks will replace tracks released in the U.S. on the A Fading Summer EP), 'What Goes Up', '6am Mornin gside' and 'From A Window'. 13 tracks.

release date 2014-07-15 publisher: Fastcut Records
The Bilinda Butchers "HEAVEN" is a soundtrack set to the diary by Nakajima Ume, a young woman who lived in Japan from 1836 to 1864. The diary's entries catalog her catastrophic marriage to a cruel nobleman, and her later introduction to a young, idealistic poet whose expressions of sympathy inspire her to escape from her unfortunate circumstances. When her friendship with the poet is discovered, Ume is sent away to a distant village, where she falls into a deep depression and eventually learns of the poet’s death. Though the news of the poet’s death initially disturbs Ume, she soon discovers within herself a new sense of clarity and motivation. Her diary ends with a final pronouncement: she will drown herself in order to reunite with her fallen lover.

Led Astray Washed Ashore Douban
Tamaryn genre: Rock
release date 2009-10-27 publisher: Troubleman Unlimited
2009, Troubleman Unlimited
VINYL FORMAT. "Somber and seductive, brooding and atmospheric, Tamaryn's debut EP is filled with the kind of shimmering songs that alto chanteuses like Nico and Siouxsie Sioux offered us in years past. Her voice is both a weight against the current of reverb-drenched guitars and a floating ornament atop the driving drums that underpin her songs. The music hovers between dark, tribal minimalism and lush post-punk grandiosity, infusing the familiar with the unexpected. Led Astray, Washed Ashore is an intriguing release to say the least." --Big Takeover. Includes guest appearances from Nick Zinner (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) and Jalell Bunton (TV On The Radio). Edition of 500 copies. Packaged with embossed sleeves.

The Violet Hour Douban
The Clientele genre: Rock
release date 2003-07-08 publisher: Merge Records
London's Clientele released a series of 7-inch singles on various small imprints from 1998-2001, which were later collected on one release, 'Suburban Light'. The subsequent critical acclaim raised the trio from underground cult status to full blown pop phenomenon. This, their first full-length, Further cements their status. Languid melodies and delicate choruses combine to transport the listener to a hazy dreamlike world of witty and sardonic tales of love, loss, possibilities, and dreams. A beautiful chamber pop masterpiece that is eloquent and sparse, yet never lacking in lush sound scapes. Merge. 2003.

This is the band's third album to date, following 2003's "Violet Hour" and 2001's singles comp, "Suburban Light". "Aggressively, gratuitously lovely, modernizing the chambery charms of Love's 'Forever Changes', The Zombies, and Galaxie 500" - Spin.
