Futurology is the twelfth studio album by Welsh alternative rock band Manic Street Preachers. It is scheduled for release in July 2014. The album features contributions from Green Gartside, Nina Hoss, Cian Ciaran and Cate Le Bon.

Energized by the success of Journal For Plague Lovers, the Manics return with an album that's grandiose even for them, but they make it work.

Built around lyrics from presumed-dead founding member Richey Edwards and recorded by Steve Albini, the Manics' latest finds them revitalized.

2007 album from the fiery Welsh trio, their first studio release since 2004's Lifeblood. In the meantime, both vocalist/guitarist James Dean Bradfield and bassist Nicky Wire both released critically successful solo albums. Send Away The Tigers is the Manics' eighth studio album overall and was produced by longtime associate Dave Eringa. This album sees the boys return to an ambitious, edgier and energetic Rock sound ('The Clash and The Sex Pistols are our biggest inspirations' - Nicky Wire), and includes the single 'Your Love Alone Is Not Enough' which features Nina Persson of The Cardigans, of whom the band have been long time fans. The band has managed to squeeze six albums out of that approach, which in itself tells you something. Back when they were just four unknowns in heavy eye shadow and feather boas with slogans scrawled on their clothes, they famously had the audacity (or was it marketing savvy?) to proclaim that they would make the greatest rock album ever and then split-- neither of which panned out, of course. Their debut, Generation Terrorists, walked a weird line between agit-punk, cock rock, romantic melodicism and glam, and was so obviously patterned after The Clash's London Calling that it was actually kind of cute. They did add a chapter to rock folklore, however, after releasing their best record (1994's tormented The Holy Bible), when lyricist Richey Edwards-- suffering from anorexia, alcoholism and a pattern of self-abuse that culminated in him carving "4REAL" in his arm with a razor blade during an interview with Steve Lamacq as a manner of addressing critics who doubted the band's conviction-- disappeared, never to be seen again.

As personal as the songs on Know Your Enemy may be, there's always a definite political thread tied up in there, too. Though the band's agenda can get mighty opaque at times, the album feels throughout like some sort of call to arms. And they're not just preaching to the converted. Rather than aiming stylistically at a certain audience, Know Your Enemy finds the Manics attempting to write a protest song in just about every genre. This project, stretched out over 16 tracks and 75 minutes, quickly reaches epic proportions, with an ambition approached only by the magnitude of its flaws.

U.K. pressing of the new album for the anxious die hard fans. It's their first since the mysterious disap- pearance of guitarist Richey James well over a year ago and features both the title hit and 'A Design For Life'.
