Formed in the late 1980s, British progressive metal frontrunners THRESHOLD combined influences of heavy metal and prog rock to craft their very own trademark style. Their highly-acclaimed debut album "Wounded Land" was released in 1993, accompanied by tours with bands such as DREAM THEATER, PSYCHOTIC WALTZ and PAIN OF SALVATION. 2007 saw the release of the band's successful Nuclear Blast debut and 8th album in total, "Dead Reckoning" and shortly afterwards, original singer Damian Wilson rejoined THRESHOLD for a period of extensive touring, replacing former vocalist Andrew "Mac" McDermott, who sadly passed away in 2011. Over the course of their 20th anniversary, the Brits released a collector's box set entitled "Paradox - The Singles Collection" in 2009.
Following a five year hiatus, THRESHOLD emerged again with a brand-new studio album, recorded & produced at Thin Ice Studios (DRAGONFORCE, PENDRAGON) by Karl Groom (guitar) and Richard West (keyboards) . Progressive as always but stronger than ever - it's not for nothing that the opus was entitled "March Of Progress"! With a total running time of almost 70(!) minutes, it marks the longest but yet most diversified release of the band's entire career. Enchanting melodies to die for, perfectly blended with just the right pitch of harshness and topped off with Damian Wilson's heavenly vocals. Now, in 2014, Threshold unleash their 10th album 'For The Journey' .Built on the band's driving energy and pulsating with melodic intent, the album is arguably their most immediate to date. "This is one of our strongest albums and one of the most enjoyable to make," shares THRESHOLD keyboard player Richard West. "I've probably heard it a thousand times during the recording process, but now that it's over, I still can't stop listening to it!".About the album artwork created by Polish artist Leszek Bujnowski, West adds: "He's designed some beautiful pieces and we thought this was a perfect THRESHOLD cover."

Subsurface is in some respect a continuation of the direction the band started to explore with Critical Mass, yet in many other ways is a brash, audacious step forward. It retains their progressive roots and heavy approach whilst enhancing the accessibility of their overall sound to produce their strongest album yet. From the brooding, all embracing Mission Profile that opens the album, through to the emotionally charged epic Flags and Footprints, the band manage to captivate the listener with their distinct blend of cutting edge progressive metal. The artwork was designed by Thomas Ewerhard whom was responsible for the classic covers of Clone, Hypothetical, Critical Mass and Critical Energy.
