一直以為 X JAPAN 的歌曲會是很強勁，而且會像 Punk Rock 一般的嘈吵，可能是當年各成員的形象令我有這種想法，也或許是我對 J-Rock 的感覺，總是覺得樂隊的整體形象方面，始終有點令人難以接受，所以難免會有點偏見。
在一個偶然的機會下，第一次聽到 X JAPAN 的歌是〔The Last Song〕，由此改變了我對他們的看法，這時才了解到還是歌曲最重要。聽罷〔The Last Song〕之後，一直記掛著這首長十一分多鐘的抒情歌曲，於是就想找一張 Best Album 來聽，亦正是今期介紹的這垺睟ALLAD COLLECTION〕。
大碟實際上只收錄了九首作品，另加〔Forever Love〕的一個 Acoustic Version，Ballad 式的歌曲主要以旋律及編曲打動人心，這張大碟做到了以上兩點，雖然只得九首作品，但我肯定的說，每一首我都很喜愛，編曲方式大致上都是以 Orchestra為基礎， Yoshiki 寫這類型的歌曲可以說是上佳人選。 曲式的巧妙安排， 令每首作品大多在七至八分鐘以上， 而又不會覺得沒完沒了似的。 在著重鋼琴的編曲上， 打破了流行曲以 Keyboard 或 Guitar 作主導的局面，這樣的編曲方式間接令歌曲的耐聽度提升，因為每種樂器在歌曲內的不同部份都有主導的機會；再者，這些作品更是 Live 必定要唱的，肯定點說，就是 CD Track 跟 Live Version 都是一流的。
最喜愛的作品包括：〔Forever Love〕、〔Longing〕、〔Crucify My Love〕、〔Say Anything〕及〔The Last Song〕，幾首作品都是很自然的就跟著旋律哼，而且在間奏及轉調上都來得很精彩，不論是 Guitar Solo，還是鋼琴加少許 Percussion 所締造出來的效果都是一絕的，較為像流行曲般長度的〔Crucify My Love〕雖然可能跟其他幾首有點不同， 但其著重在鋼琴的簡單編曲， 依然是令人繞樑的； 另一喜愛的是〔Say Anything〕，因為記得只聽了一、兩次，便已經記得整首歌的旋律。
至於〔Unfinished〕則跟〔Crucify My Love〕有點相似，但卻把Rock及Orchestra結合在一起；而〔Tears〕則跟〔Say Anything〕都是旋律很上口的作品；全碟感覺上最不似 Ballad 的就是〔Alive〕，起初帶著點 Slow Rock 的感覺，但是中段的變奏可以說來得很搶耳，很有基督復活的感覺。
大碟收錄的相信都是 X JAPAN 的 Ballad 首選，而且大部份歌曲都是很動聽的一群，所以算得上是值得珍藏的一張唱片。

八音盒专辑

2年振り,待望の新譜は,いかにもXらしい超ハイスピード王道ナンバーから,70年代風R&Rやバラードまで,なんでも有りの豪華版。しかし,どの曲をとってみても,Xらしいナルシーでキャッチーな仕上がりになっているところは,サスガですね。

《Blue Blood》是X-Japan乐队于1989年4月21日发行的一张专辑，它收录第一张专辑《Vanishing Vision》的两首重录曲《Kurenai》、《Unfinished》（both with alternate/expanded lyrics），专辑风格相较Rose of Pain更偏向于交响摇滚（symphonic rock），这张专辑的不少乐曲都成为乐队的演唱会保留曲目。
这张专辑事实上是X第一张正式的CD专辑，也是首次和强大的SONY RECORDS合作而发售的首张MAJOR大碟，震撼日本乐界的Ｘ至此冲出地下，以雄壮的「Prologue」为开端开始了他们的神话。作品的作曲开始以YOSHIKI为主，另有2首HIDE的作品。X在这个时期就有了很多今后传为经典的代表歌曲，确立了X在日本音乐界难以动摇的地位。整章专辑风格偏向Metal，也能找到如「ROSE OF PAIN」这首与X风格迥异作品。虽然在作曲不如专辑「Jealousy」丰富，但此专辑自有着其它专辑无法望其背向的成就。

Vanishing Vision是X乐队于1988年4月14日发行的第一张专辑，刚推出时只有TAPE，之后于9月份推出CD版，很纯的重金属专辑，发行后长期居于地下乐坛销量榜首位。直到现在，在日本的唱片店里还可以买到经数次再版的这张专辑。 X于1987年形成了稳定阵容，随后便展开了第一张专辑的制作，那时的X的第二核心是BASS手TAIJI，而不是后来的HIDE，整张专辑受TAIJI的影响也比较重，有三分之一的作品是TAIJI写的。TAIJI最擅长的是欧美重金属风格的作品，而VANISHING VISION的创作思想就是要给人以压倒性的沉重感，而TAIJI的第一曲DEAR LOSER就很出色的达成了这一目的，他在其他歌曲中的BASS演绎也是精彩绝伦。
