ペドロ&カプリシャス、三代目ヴォーカリスト松平直子時代の傑作アルバム

日本のバンド・ペドロ&カプリシャスの4番目のシングルである。ペドロ&カプリシャスの代表曲のひとつである。ボーカルが2代目の高橋まり（現：高橋真梨子）に変わった際の1曲目の作品であり、高橋はこの曲でレコードデビューした。

後に高橋真梨子も在籍することになるペドロ＆カプリシャスのメジャーデビューシングル（ヴォーカルは前野曜子）。週間オリコンチャート4週連続で1位を獲得、シングル売り上げも55.7万枚を記したデビュー作にして最大のヒットとなった名曲で、ウド・ユルゲンス「夕映えの二人」になかにし礼が新たな歌詞をつけたもの。歌謡曲なメロディと詞ながらも彼らの特徴でもあるビートやベースラインを強調したニューロックテイストなアレンジに仕上がっている。そんな世界をさらに推し進めたのがＢ面。かまやつひろし作曲によるボサノヴァとロックビートを掛け合わせたグルーヴ歌謡。サンタナやアステカなどラテン〜チカーノロックにいち早く反応したような強烈な1曲。ジャジーなアレンジを手がけたのは前田憲男！

The first record by the group headed by the percussionist Pedro Umemura that got fame in the mid 70s as one of the first Japanese funksters. This album is a typical Group Sounds that was unfashionable at that moment. The record is divided on the two sides not only physically but stylistically. And if the side A - almost pure variety music, intermitting Japanese song with covers on overseas melodies (including the smash hits like "Love Story" and "Tombe la Niege"), but the side B is full with rock covers, among them are Lennon's "Love", McCartney's "Eat At Home", Joplin's "Move Over" and Santana's (or Fleetwood Mac's - who prefers more) "Black Magic Woman". This record, if to be honest, has not something special but may be interesting as the first work by the group and the debut of Mariko Takahasi, who in 1978 quit from Pedro & Capricious and got a huge popularity in Japan as solo singer, recorded almost 30 albums.
