A Mirror is an elusive, explosive play by Sam Holcroft, interrogating censorship, authorship and free speech. It premiered at the Almeida Theatre, London, in 2023, directed by Jeremy Herrin, and with a cast including Jonny Lee Miller, Tanya Reynolds and Micheal Ward.

很幸运赶上了closing session,非常有意思的剧本。我有点震惊白人能写出这个深度的对censorship的反思——对比Garmash和Celik两个审查者,一个是挥舞着警棍的审查,一个则是更加隐晦的、鼓励性的自我审查。前者像是关键词审核或者一刀切的防火墙,它以惩罚异见者的形式出现;后者则更加高明,它甚至看上去是在鼓励你表达,但它把定调权牢牢地把握在自己的手里,告诉你什么问题可以探讨,什么问题不可以(举例TERF)。

剧本叫a mirror,我的理解里这个title有两层含义:第一层是adem的作品就是一面镜子,逐字逐句地记录现实,而真实的记录本身力量就巨大(他们审查是因为他们恐惧);第二层是给观众的提醒,我们以为我们在看一个剧本,但我们是不是在照镜子?我们以为自己活在一个民主、自由的国家里,但事实上媒体的表达真的公正吗?我们真的听见了所有的声音吗?

台上几位演员用Advance Australia Fair的曲调唱出她们国歌的时候我汗毛耸立。
