The great painter, book illustrator and print designer Katsushika Hokusai (1760–1849) has become the best known of all Japanese artists and one of the most famous and influential artists in the world. He was a key figure for the Japonisme movement in late 19th-century Europe, and his iconic images―especially the color woodblock print nicknamed “The Great Wave”―are frequently referred to in present-day art in both serious and frivolous forms, from sculpture, printmaking and painting to anime and emojis.

This is a delightfully colourful introduction to classical music, aimed to fire the imagination of young children aged 5-7 years. Readers are asked to think about the different places in which we might hear music, whether it is in a concert hall, or just on television. They are then introduced to a selection of famous composers including Mozart and Beethoven, and learn about each of the musical instrument families, from woodwind to percussion. Throughout the book children are referred to the accompanying CD so that they can hear examples as they read. Music on the CD includes Mozart's "Magic Flute", Williams' "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", Saint-Saens' "Carnival of the Animals", Holst's "Planets", Stravinsky's "Petrushka" and Prokofiev's "Peter and the Wolf".

Paul Klee (1879-1940) began to experience the first symptoms of scleroderma--a systemic autoimmune disease--in 1933, although it was only diagnosed posthumously. His interest in angels arose while he was ill, and they became a dominant theme, particularly from 1938 on. Klee's depictions of angels are among his most popular paintings. Perhaps one reason for their enduring popularity is that angels are trapped in human form; like us, they have flaws and weaknesses, can be playful, worried or even malicious. While these works reflect the fear of death as well as the fragility of the incurably ill, they are also imbued with the artist's quiet sagacity and whimsical humor. With 138 reproductions in color and writings on Klee by Walter Benjamin among others,
sheds new light on individual works in the series, such as the iconic -Angelus Novus, - which Benjamin purchased in 1921--for the equivalent of about $30--and which led him to formulate his notion of the -angel of history.-

With his brutal post-industrial music, theatrical makeup and controversial lyrics about serial killers and Satanism, shock rocker Marilyn Manson has stood as an icon for a generation of dispossessed teens. It is less well known that Manson has been painting pictures since 1999. Genealogies of Pain presents 30 of his paintings, executed over the past ten years. Manson's portraits of cartoonish characters are rendered in delicate pastel colors, but the subject matter accords with his notoriously morbid aesthetic: one figure gnaws off his own fingers, another wears a gas mask. This volume pairs Manson with filmmaker David Lynch, who has also made a living out of mining mankind's darkest carnal fears. Included here are stills from four of Lynch's early short experimental films, Six Men Getting Sick, The Grandmother, The Amputee and The Alphabet, which employ similar themes of physical and psychological trauma. An interview with Manson explores his techniques and relevant art historical traditions.

This book is an introductory guide to Park Chan-wook, the 2004 Cannes Grand Pix winner and one of the most acclaimed and popular Korean film directors. The book looks within with an insider’s eyes and gropes roughly for the root and stems of cinematic world of Park, who has achieved both critical and commercial success, performing stunts verging on the acrobatic between genre convention and directorial individuality.

美国早期最重要的中国艺术品收藏家及实业家查尔斯•兰•弗利尔（1854－1919年）创办了西方首家专业亚洲美术馆——弗利尔美术馆，汇集了世界顶尖的亚洲艺术珍宝。
