In this documentary, set in Bosnia during the war, Pawlikowski steers clear of the usual cliches of war reporting. He takes on a more anthropological perspective relying not on commentary but on the power of images: a mass baptism before the final battle, the bizarre antics of the remaining members of the Karadjordje dynasty and the tribal chants of Serbian peasant/soldiers at the front line. The result is more universal enquiry into the nature of the nation state and the ethnocentric view of the world.

Monuments are silent witnesses to the times when they were built and the people who built them. Through monuments one can trace the history of human kind. Monuments teach us about different customs, religions, cultures, economies, wars and social norms. Had their monuments not been preserved many peoples would have perished without a trace. Thousands of monuments were built throughout the former Yugoslavia in the 1945-1990 period to commemorate the sites where World War II battles had been fought. These monuments were once favorite destinations for school trips and political gatherings, as well as a necessary part of all family photos. At the present time, the monuments and their symbolism have been abandoned, neglected and destroyed. The main focus of this film is the destiny of these monuments as secondary raw materials.

This feature documentary covers 24 years of conflict in Bosnia, focused on the capital city of Sarajevo during the siege and its aftermath. The story is told through the experiences of five people who survived.

'The Weight of Chains 2' is a documentary film largely dealing with the effects of the Washington Consensus economic doctrine on the newly established former Yugoslav republics, but also with neoliberalism as an economic concept. Through interviews with Noam Chomsky, Oliver Stone and many others, the author, Serbian-Canadian Boris Malagurski, attempts to analyze why so many people in the Balkans are disappointed with the systems imposed after the fall of socialism and how capitalism could be improved. Looking at the examples of Ecuador and Iceland, the film tries to uncover alternatives to the prevailing orthodoxies of Western economic dictates and help developing nations find their own way to shape their economies and their countries.

The Weight of Chains is a Canadian documentary film that takes a critical look at the role that the US, NATO and the EU played in the tragic breakup of a once peaceful and prosperous European state - Yugoslavia. The film, bursting with rare stock footage never before seen by Western audiences, is a creative first-hand look at why the West intervened in the Yugoslav conflict, with an impressive roster of interviews with academics, diplomats, media personalities and ordinary citizens of the former Yugoslav republics. This film also presents positive stories from the Yugoslav wars - people helping each other regardless of their ethnic background, stories of bravery and self-sacrifice.

On October 14, 2014 the two Eastern European countries of Albania and Serbia faced off on the soccer field in the Serbian capital of Belgrade. With Albanian fans not permitted to attend the game due to purported safety concerns, the stadium full of Serbian fans echoed racist chants and death threats. Tensions rose to a boil when a drone carrying an Albanian flag flew above the players and onto the pitch. Angered fans rushed the field, attacking the Albanian players, forcing the match to end. A history of political tensions, war and genocide is explored as we follow the journey of the Albanian National Team to their first EURO cup appearance.

In July 1995, the world's first UN Safe Area became the site of Europe's worst massacre since World War II. That month, the Bosnian Serb army staged a brutal takeover of the village of Srebrenica and its surrounding region, while a Dutch peacekeeping battalion of United Nations forces helplessly looked on.
In the course of the destruction, Bosnian Serb soldiers separated Muslim families and systematically slaughtered more than 7,000 Muslim men in the fields and factories around the town.
As investigators continue to exhume the bodies from mass graves and the details of the tragedy continue to unfold, the killings lead us to urgent, fundamental questions. How can genocide occur in Europe in this day and age, despite the presence of multiple diplomatic agencies intended to prevent such barbarity?

A Town Betrayed (Norwegian: Byen som kunne ofres, Croatian: Grad koji se mogao žrtvovati, Izdani grad) is a 2010 Norwegian documentary about the prelude of the Srebrenica massacre (1995), written and directed by journalists Ola Flyum and David Hebditch and produced by Fenris Films, NRK, among others. It was shown on NRK's Brennpunkt on 26 April 2011 and SVT on 28 August 2011.

In 1995, at the height of the Bosnian war, French policeman Jean-René Ruez arrived in Sarajevo to hunt down snipers. But after hearing rumours thousands of Muslim men were being tortured and executed, he quickly abandoned his original mission.

Filmmaker Hermann Vaske explores the creative Balkan world in the hopes of understanding the meaning of "Balkan spirit", by interviewing philosopher Slavoj Žižek and various artists. However, the term's complexity very quickly becomes apparent and it seems increasingly difficult, if not impossible, to define the Balkans' geographical location, its people and its culture. Indeed, contradiction, chaos and change is at the Balkans very core.

Robert, a jaded middle-aged New Yorker, goes to Serbia to make quick cash by
marrying someone for U.S. immigration papers, but the plan goes awry when
the promised cash never arrives. At the same time, a young Serbian
immigrant, Branko, struggles in a never forgiving New York, desperately

波塞战争期间。雾色中，一队波斯尼亚士兵向塞尔维亚阵地接近，不幸天明时被对方发现，波斯尼亚士兵西基（Branko Djuric 饰）中弹滚入战壕，战友则全部牺牲。塞方派出新兵尼诺（Rene Bitorajac 饰）在一老兵带领下检视战场，老兵将弹式地雷塞入波方士兵尸体下面充作陷阱，找到了武器的西基突然出现，击毙老兵后将尼诺俘虏。不久“尸体”突然醒转，西基看着地雷上的战友无能为力，只好与尼诺二人在波塞阵地之间的无主地带请求帮助。联合国维和部队接到求助赶到现场，维和高层领导本着避免麻烦的原则拒绝施救，英国女记者珍妮获得这一消息后借媒体力量对维和指挥部施压。但是维和部队与媒体的介入，并没能扭转混乱战争中的又一悲剧事件。
本片获2002年奥斯卡最佳外语片奖等二十余项褒奖。
