游戏剧情内容与前作衔接，玩家扮演的角色将孤身前往一个边远小岛，在神秘人“AS”的指引下，利用强大的解谜能力，解开“手艺人”在岛上留下的重重谜题。与前几部作品单一结局不同，玩家们在首次通关后，会发现还有另外3种结局等待玩家探索，大大增加了游戏的可玩性。本作弱化了游戏的“关卡感”，并在部分关键解谜机关上，需要玩家结合现实世界，才能找到线索，令不少玩家啧啧称奇。
日前，网易游戏宣布代理发行《迷室3》官方中文版，会带给中国玩家更优质的游戏体验并加入全新功能，产品预计2018年年中上线。
