On the occasion of the death of its beloved Kansas-born editor Arthur Howitzer, Jr., the staff of The French Dispatch, a widely circulated American magazine based in the French city of Ennui-sur-Blasé, convenes to write his obituary. Memories of Howitzer flow into the creation of four stories: a travelogue of the seediest sections of the city itself from The Cycling Reporter; “The Concrete Masterpiece,” about a criminally insane painter, his guard and muse, and his ravenous dealers; “Revisions to a Manifesto,” a chronicle of love and death on the barricades at the height of student revolt; and “The Private Dining Room of the Police Commissioner,” a suspenseful tale of drugs, kidnapping and fine dining.

Composed by Kristofer Maddigan, the Cuphead OST features nearly 3 hours of original jazz, early big band, and ragtime music. Each song is played by live musicians, including a 13-piece big band, 10-piece ragtime ensemble, a solo pianist, a vocalist, a tap dancer, and a few surprises.

The full details of the soundtrack album for Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi epic Dune have been revealed. The album features the film’s original score composed by Hans Zimmer (The Dark Knight, Gladiator, Inception, Pirates of the Caribbean, The Lion King, Interstellar, Man of Steel). The soundtrack will be released (in both Standard and Dolby Atmos Music configurations) tomorrow, September 17 by WaterTower Music. As previously announced, The Dune Sketchbook featuring extended musical explorations of the composer’s score was released earlier this month and a third album, The Art and Soul of Dune, the companion soundtrack to the book of the same title featuring music by Zimmer will be coming out on October 22. Dune starring Timothée Chalamet, Rebecca Ferguson, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Zendaya, Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa and Javier Bardem premiered earlier this month at the 2021 Venice Film Festival and is being released in several international territories this weekend before arriving in U.S. theaters and on HBO Max on October 22.

Johann Johannson is the 2015 Golden Globe winner for Best Score for his work on Theory of Everything which sold 9K copies in the U.S. Johann is also a solo artist formally signed to 4AD Records. Sicario is an Oscar contender for 2016 starring Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin and Benicio Del Toro.

The details of the soundtrack album for the Cannes Edition soundtrack album for Leos Carax’s musical drama Annette have been revealed. The album features selections of the the music from the film written by legendary art-pop duo Sparks (Ron and Russell Mael), lyrics co-written by the band and Carax, and performed by Sparks and the cast of the movie. The vinyl edition of the soundtrack is set to be released in the U.S. on August 27, 2021 by Milan Records and is now available for pre-order on Amazon. A CD version (to be released overseas next month) is available to order as an import here. Two songs featured on the Cannes Edition (So May We Start & We Love Each Other So Much) are already available to stream/download now. Annette is co-written and directed by Carax and stars Adam Driver, Marion Cotillard, Simon Helberg and Devyn McDowell. The movie follows a stand-up comedian with a fierce sense of humor who falls in love with a world-renowned opera singer. The drama will premiere next week at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival and will be released in U.S. theaters on August 6 by Amazon Studios before making its streaming debut on August 20 on Amazon Prime.

『ほしのこえ』の新海誠監督が贈る『雲のむこう、約束の場所』は、監督2作目にして長編、全国劇場公開作品。全編を通じて流れる音楽は『ほしのこえ』での記憶も新しい天門によるものだ。この作品中の全楽曲を収録したファン待望のサウンドトラックが登場。劇中使用楽曲(全26曲)をフルバージョンにて収録するほか、主題歌｢きみのこえ｣ロングバージョンを収録。天門・新海誠によるライナーノーツ(冊子)付き。

《葬心》这套电影原声，由小虫创作，当年跳槽滚石的唱将黄莺莺以超高水准演绎了两个不同版本的《葬心》，一个是当代风格的版本，一个是细生细气的符合三十年代欣赏口味的怀旧版，本专辑正是这个版本的。在影片一开始以收音机里的背景音乐出现过，感兴趣者不妨留意。
为了要用心做好电影《阮玲玉》的配乐，制作人小虫从关锦鹏提供的电影片段、阮玲玉的相关报道，及正统二、三〇年代的音乐入手，一步步走进那个遥远的年代。据说为了要重现那个时代的音乐风貌，他还不惜将唱片母带扔到地上，踩一踩，以制造出时间的斑驳风貌。“感谢阮玲玉，因为她带领我重温一回生命的乐章，启发我音乐创作的另一风貌。”这是小虫在文案上写的一些感想。而对于演唱主题曲“葬心”的歌手黄莺莺来说，这也是一次难得的经验；同为女性，她对阮玲玉的生活、演艺生涯、及上一代女性艺人在保守社会所遭受的舆论和道德谴责下，那种含恨自尽的煎熬心情，感触颇深。“贪一点依赖，贪点爱”无非是阮玲玉的感情写照，而在黄莺莺仿古唱腔的绵密歌声中，阮玲玉的凄怆、辛酸，在相隔半世纪之后的今天，仍令人感慨不已。
乐评人翁嘉铭认为，《葬心》这张专辑让小虫真正发挥了他“歌乐剧”的创作才华。的确，由弦乐为衬底所交织成的绵密情感，加上如刺绣素手般婉约的音符，完成了阮玲玉一生命运的音乐网。而电影《阮玲玉》在配乐的烘托下，也更颇细腻、动人。
