Scheduled for release in March 2019 via Denovali Records,Emitteris the third release by UK based instrumental ensemble The Pirate Ship Quintet. This follows their highly acclaimed 2007 self-titled debut EP and 2012’s full length, Rope for No Hopers.
Once again taking their favoured DIY approach, the album was recorded and mixed by the band, giving them complete control over the record’s direction and nuance. Emitterwas mastered in the US by renowned musician and engineer James Plotkin, who has also worked with the likes of ISIS, Earth and Sunn O))).
The album features a number of collaborators including award winning modern classical composer Emily Hall (Bedroom Community) adding the voices of her curated choir to ‘Companion’and ‘Wreath’. Further vocal performances come from soloists Blythe Pepino (Vaults/Mesadorm) and award-winning singer-songwriter Emily Barker.
The title track ‘Emitter’ showcases celebrated saxophonist Andrew Hayes (Run Logan Run/Tezeta), whose bright jazz flourishes and rending wails add a deeply plaintive touch. The band’s cellist Sandy Bartai (London Symphony Orchestra and BBC National Orchestra of Wales) delivers the sombre laments that are the calling-card of The Pirate Ship Quintet.
Emitteris the band’s most ambitious release to date, shying away from traditional songwriting paradigms and encouraging the music to progress into more eclectic spaces. This has allowed the band to explore their individual tastes and influences. The album flows organically between smaller, tightly-focused pieces and longer, more expansive suites which together form a cohesive soundscape.

继上张专辑《远》之后,时隔两年,沼泽乐队最新专辑《琴晚》终于出炉。这是一张尝试描绘当今城市图景的概念专辑——谁说有古琴就一定要讲古事?沼泽的意图很明确,《琴晚》就如同一部电影,讲述的是在一个现代城市里,从黄昏到第二天清晨的不同时段,七个人各自发生的七个故事。
2015年,沼泽选择闭关一年,除了年底在广州会做一场重要专场,其余时间都在埋头创作。若要归结,《琴晚》也恰有七个亮点:
1、以古琴这种有着数千年历史的古老弦乐器,去表达现代人的情感和故事,而不只是延续传统描述高山流水的理念,这亦是沼泽乐队前所未有的创新。
2、制作方面,沼泽在band房大厦的天台,专门搭建了露天舞台,进行专辑的录制与拍摄。其中包括古琴的不少声轨直接在天台录制,而一些用麦克风录的乐器,比方箫与口风琴,甚至将城市底噪也收录进去。而专辑除了音频,还会加入一个“全影像记录“的视频。内容除了一些录制花絮,还包括全部曲目的演奏视频,等于可看到一场完整专辑的表演现场。镜头从天台、室内到街景,从你意外又熟悉的角度,展现一座城池的风韵。
3、曲风继续以其独特的古琴后摇为主干,但情绪会有鲜明改变,会更温暖。七个故事基调各自不同,情绪更丰富,且复杂。节奏节拍会更复杂多变和有趣,有不少不规则节拍,如5/4、6/4、9/8,有一首甚至不同乐器以奇偶数小节错开行进,但你听到就知道,这又分明不是数学摇滚。
4、《琴晚》会有两首重新加入人声的作品,而且国粤语和英语都有——想不到会是怎样的吧?配器上更丰富,除了古琴,电声三大件电吉他贝司鼓,还有箫、钟片琴、口风琴和木吉他。其中以提琴弓拉奏古琴的曲目有五首之多。资深乐友会发现,沼泽很少引入外援,而常常以固定四人班底,发挥各自的秘密武器,做出各种丰富而新颖的乐器配搭。
5、将先发行一个限量200张的USB特别版,用鼓手海逊设计的杯子做包装(当然,它也是可以直接拿来喝水的),这和专辑概念的贴近生活描画现代也是相互呼应的。USB盘里面收录了所有音乐与视频的高质量内容,以及精美图片,其中音乐更有比CD音质还高的24bit数字无损格式。
6、在这张专辑,沼泽第一次使用电古琴录制所有的曲目,这也是世界上第一张用电古琴录制的专辑。这不禁让人想起电吉他的革命,可以说又开辟了一条新的路。
7、《琴晚》将和下一张专辑一起,构成姊妹篇,内容风格截然不同,却又彼此呼应。它们将一同呈现在年底沼泽在广州的重要演出中。这也会是沼泽今年集中精力做的唯一一次专场。

Firmly entrenched in their quasi-pop / post-rock roots, the Sailors continue to expand the blueprint for the future of post-rock. From the sounds youve never heard before, to the arpeggios that swallow you whole, to the powerful crescendos that devastate your senses, their music is a prime example of just how effective instrumental music can be. Devoid of all lyrics, the music alone speaks for itself...and it speaks volumes,” says label founder John Szuch.
"This album is the next step for Moonlit Sailor as a band. Although we are still a young band, we felt like we needed to navigate into new, and for us unknown, waters, without straying too far from our roots. We have always been trying to write music that gives the listener hope and light. Because of that, hope and light is what we brought into the new waters. We knew that we wanted to do something new and fresh this time, but didnt know exactly how to do it. That was kind of scary,” says bass guitarist Markus Rundlof. Rundlof continues "Some of the songs are metaphors for how we felt back then, with elements of vulnerability, uncertainty and mystery...but at the same time they give you a feeling of hope and light. When listening to the album, we want people to have a vision of the sailor featured on the cover art, navigating into new waters and eventually finding a new home. Other songs are metaphors for pushing your limits and trying new things. What we discovered in the songwriting process is that when you decide to release control and finally jump, you see the world from a new perspective and its liberating." "That approach gave us a lot of creativity. Weve never experienced such creative atmosphere in the band before and it never felt better. We knew we were onto something special. Suddenly we had hundreds of different ideas to pick from. Moonlit Sailor is Adam Tornblad (drums, piano, guitars, synthesizers, programming), Markus Rundlof (bass guitar, piano, programming), Oscar Gulbrandsen (guitar, piano, synthesizers, programming) and Joakim Wiik (piano, programming). "We Come From Exploding Stars" was recorded at Nacksving Studio (Dorena, Immanu El, Neneh Cherry, The Spotnicks) in Gothenburg, Sweden from September to December 2013. The album was recorded, produced and mixed by Anders Lagerfors (also of the band Obliq) and mastered by Martin at Cutting Room (In Flames, Red One, Dungen, Mando Diao) in Stockholm. A video for the song "Skydiver" is currently in the works with plans for release as the band begins touring in support of the album in May. The bands music has appeared in scores of television shows, commercials and films, most recently in the trailer for the romantic comedy "Love Is In The Air" by director Alexandre Castagnetti (Focus World). Previous albums include "Colors In Stereo" (2011), "So Close To Life" (2009) and "A Footprint Of Feelings" (2008) which have all been released on Deep Elm Records. Adam Tornblad and Oscar Gulbrandsen are also members of cinematic post-rock duo U137. The band resides in Boras, Sweden where they often experience weeks without sunlight.

经过两年时间的精心准备,惘闻将于2012年6月推出他们成军13年以来的第7张正式唱片《0.7》。此次也是惘闻首次同倦鸟唱片合作,新唱片将以黑胶和CD两种形式发售。唱片录制于今年2月,也是惘闻第一次采用同期录音的方式,以期最大限度的还原现场的质感。 虽然前期录音只用了不到一周的时间,但后期弦乐组的录制以及唱片的缩混让录音师以及乐队成员在之后的一个月不停的奔波往返于大连-北京-宁波。最终,当母带从加拿大的Grey Market Mastering发回来的时候已经是4月了。

「Eulogy For Evolution」其實是一張非常特殊的唱片,誠如上一段介紹裡提到,Ólafur Arnalds原來在家鄉Mosfellsbær離雷克雅維克偏壤的一個小鎮上,他同時身兼多支Hardcore樂隊的鼓手職務,理應深受重型搖滾音樂的薰染甚過於古典音樂;可是在「Eulogy For Evolution」這張唱片裡,卻處處見到了半古典音樂編制,鋼琴、提琴與弦樂四重奏的鋪排架構,Ólafur Arnalds玩的是猶如Erik Satie、Claude Debussy等人深鬱的鋼琴樂曲,聽來頗有電影配樂般的壯闊景致。Ólafur Arnalds肯定會被拿來與Sigur Rós等人相作比較,無論從草創時期的音樂涉獵,亦或是其後音樂創作上從容不迫的大器,那都有無數可以比較的理由。專輯裡8首曲目全以4位數字來作為標題,看似時間又像是一套數字密碼,彷彿非得解開其背後的動機,才能完整理解Ólafur Arnalds的創作。專輯中除了3055與終幕曲3704/3837等兩首曲子適切地加入了鼓擊與電吉他的噪音聲浪,其餘6部作品均是以鋼琴、弦樂為對話,靜謐而深刻地描繪著對於環境的讚佩。

多才多藝的Ólafur Arnalds也沒有完全丟下對搖滾樂的熱情,先是替友人的樂團My Summer as a Salvation Soldier擔任多項樂器伴奏,還獲邀為美國Indie-Rock樂團Cursive擔任德國巡迴演出的伴奏樂手。完全無法想像,Ólafur Arnalds這居中的多重音樂性格,哪一個才是原來的自己;又或許是性格冷漠卻喜愛尋求刺激的冰島人,的確有著異於常人的敏銳觸覺。「Eulogy For Evolution」是一張驚心動魄、具有罕見美感的音樂大製作,似乎連唱片封套設計都不敢馬虎。而唱片則交由倫敦新銳音樂廠牌Erased Tapes Records於10月29日發行。
