Since 2008, the art of Árstíðir lífsins breathes Old Norse history on all levels. "Saga á tveim tungum" is a two-sided story constructed around the later period of the Norwegian king and saint, Óláfr Haraldsson (995-1030). It roughly spans the period of his later power attempts in the years 995-1030. The albums depict the lives of two siblings and their individual experiences during the turbulent times in early eleventh-century Norway. Generally, "Saga á tveim tungum" is without a doubt the most ambitious and complex story told by Árstíðir lífsins to date. Much more based on Skaldic, and, partly, on Eddic poetry than any of the previous albums. Numerous hints towards historical battles and other happenings vividly described in select Kings’ sagas and other Old Norse sources are presented, and put in relation to the otherwise fictive main characters of the story.
Entirely sung in Old Icelandic and twinned with its brother album "Saga á tveim tungum I: Vápn ok viðr" previously released in 2019, Árstíðir lífsins proves on "Eigi fjǫll né firðir" once again its ability to produce audial quality: From ambient archaic folklore soundscapes, supported by dark chants and classical instruments, to both modern and classic Black Metal elements, the musical abilities project genuine craftmanship.
Similar to "Vápn ok viðr", "Saga á tveim tungum II: Eigi fjǫll né firðir" was composed and recorded in Germany and Sweden in early 2018 and mixed and mastered in February of 2019 by the experienced hands of renowned producer Markus Stock at Klangschmiede Studio E, Mellrichstadt, Germany. As always, the intriguing layout was executed by the highly talented Christopher Duis of 1gemachtes.de.

Baba Kinaram was a great holy man and reformer. I feel like I have known him for a long time and the more I know about him, the closer we are. This album is dedicated to his memory and teachings. The inspiration for the album stems from my visit to the holy city of Kashi, my meditation in Baba Kina Ram Sthal, conversations with Aghoris and endless gazing upon funeral pyres.
The spiritual path is a path full of obstacles, difficulties and doubts. The Aghori path is even more difficult than any other spiritual practice. It leads towards experience of the most harsh suffering in everyday life, however it also brings deep and genuine understanding and provides a vision of what lies buried in our bodies, in the depths of us as real beings.

Nihilistic Estrangement 豆瓣
Forgotten Tomb 类型: 摇滚
发布日期 2020年5月8日 出版发行: Agonia Records
Italian black/doom metal band Forgotten Tomb will release a new studio album titled “Nihilistic Estrangement” on May 8th, 2020, via Agonia Records.
This will be the band’s tenth full-length album and follow up to “We Owe You Nothing” from three years ago.
The album’s cover artwork is a painting, specifically drawn for this release by artist Paolo Girardi (Power Trip, Bell Witch, Inquisition). It complements the misanthropic and introvert nature of music and lyrics alike.
In a comment that encompasses everything from working on the album, to musical expectations and lyrical themes, the band had this to say: “"Nihilistic Estrangement" is our tenth album and it opens a new chapter of the band and possibly a new trilogy, therefore it sounds different from our previous release, which closed the past trilogy. The whole idea and concept behind the album was to make something detached from all the current trends in terms of style and production so that it would feel timeless and not chained to a particular frame in time. I chose specific vintage microphones from the 60s/70s for the studio sessions and mostly played on early 80s instruments, as well as using both analog tapes and mixing desk. It was pretty much recorded like an old album from 40 years ago or such. I pretty much wanted to make something that was removed from the current state of music and the standardized productions that get churned out daily. Musically speaking there are references to all of the band’s eras but it sounds very refreshing and extremely personal; it’s 100% Forgotten Tomb. The lyrics deal with several different themes but the main focus is about reaching a mental estrangement from the modern world; it’s about refusing to partake in the current state of things and finding solace in a inner world of my own where no one can enter. I’d say the lyrics and concepts on this album are extremely misanthropic, even if it’s a term that got thrown around so much over the years that it kinda lost its real meaning”.
“Nihilistic Estrangement” was produced by Ferdinando “Herr Morbid” Marchisio (vocals, guitars) and mixed by Alessandro “Algol” Comerio (bass). Jack Control mastered the album at Enormous Door Studios (Darkthrone, Aura Noir, Martyrdod).

A New Dawn 豆瓣
Skyforest
发布日期 2020年2月20日 出版发行: Northern Silence Productions
"A New Dawn" is the third album of Skyforest. It was written entirely in the first half of 2019 and takes us further into the Atmospheric (Black) Metal territory that we know from "Unity" and "Harmony".
Lyrically, it is about the journey into a new chapter of one's life. You never know what awaits you on a new day...but it's worth checking out. Many questions are still left unanswered and yet it may lead to a positive change.
The artist’s continued growth into a powerful, life-affirming creator is also reflected metaphorically in all of Skyforest’s artworks after the debut, and culminates in the wonderful paintings which adorn the new album, again masterfully captured on canvas by Sergey Shenderovsky.
