"Earlier this year we intended on celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Deafheaven demo released through Bandcamp on June 1, 2010 with a tour of North America with our friends Inter Arma, Greet Death and All Your Sisters. Unfortunately, we couldn’t fulfill that tour because of fallout from the Covid-19 pandemic. To rebound from the financial and morale hit, we put together an album of the set we intended to perform.
Revisiting the songs in this studio sessions format with Jack Shirley at Atomic Garden reminded us of how important these years have been. I’m thankful we were able to give songs like Daedalus, the first we wrote, and other favorites like Vertigo and Kettle new power after so many years of playing them. They made me think of the people who played on them with us. For the first time we’ve included information on who played on what tracks and when they were originally released. We included thank you-s in the liner notes to these musicians who’ve spent time with this project, on tour or on record and all of the touring crew, label support and management support who have helped us this past decade.

新型コロナウイルスの感染の影響により、全てのライブツアーの中止とAnoiceメンバーのサイドプロジェクトであるRiLFとfilmsの各ニューアルバムのリリース延期を決定したAnoiceが、急遽、制作した「今しか表現できない」作品です。今作は、Anoiceがプロデュースするダークファンタジーユニットfilmsで独自の言語を使用する同名ヴォーカリストfilmsをフィーチャーした楽曲「inner voice」やエレクトロニカユニットmatryoshkaのヴォーカリストであるcaluが参加した「the fear」をはじめ、静かでダークな楽曲を中心に構成。加えて、最新アルバム「Ghost in the Clocks」の収録曲「time」のような、コンテンポラリークラシックとインストゥルメンタルロックが融合したスリリングな楽曲「who’s your enemy?」を収録している。

On the 1st May 2020, an instrumental music band featuring a dark and cinematic sound, Anoice will release their fourth EP 'invisible wall' which will be available for free or Name Your Price for one day only on BandCamp.
Because of the effects of the coronavirus, Anoice decided to cancel all upcoming tours and postpone releasing two new albums from two of their side projects, RiLF and Films. However, soon after, they began writing new works which they can only be expressed at a time like this.
This EP mainly consists of quiet and dark neo-classical songs such as 'inner voice' featuring Films, two vocalists who sing in their own originally created languages in the same named project, Films, and 'the fear' which features Calu, the vocalist of the electronica unit, Matryoshka. It also includes 'who's your enemy?’, an exciting song that mixes a contemporary classical sound with instrumental rock, much like 'time' from their latest album 'Ghost in the Clocks'.
The EP 'invisible wall' is certainly not one for healing, but expressing the anger, sadness, and hate, as well as capturing the moment of entering the forthcoming new world.

"Vespertine" is the musical score that This Will Destroy You composed for Chef Jordan Kahn's 2-Michelin Star restaurant of the same name. The score originally ran exclusively at the physical site of the restaurant in Culver City, California since its grand opening in late 2017. The program consists of seven pieces specifically written for moments within the building itself (and even the space around and on top of it).
The sequencing of the album is an attempt to mimic the order in which diners at Vespertine encounter different spaces throughout their experience. "Rumble" is the ever-present hum and ominous force surrounding the immediate exterior of the building. "Entrance" signifies the crossing over from the terrestrial realm into the inner atmosphere of "The Waffle" structure, where the evening begins to unfold. "Kitchen" is an warm, hospitable piece that accompanies a personal encounter with Chef Kahn. "Rooftop" and its celestially-inspired movements often pair perfectly with clear nights atop The Waffle. "Dining Room" sets the tone for a multi-course main dinner service. "Exit" is another transitional piece signifying the end of the main service and setting the stage for a supplemental experience. Finally, "Garden" welcomes diners back into a semi-terrestrial realm wherein after-dinner sweets and beverages accompany reflection upon the evening's moments, all in full view of the looming architectural monolith that is The Waffle.

Isis' first official release, this 1999 EP shows off a few different facets of the band's hardcore/doom/sludge/metal style, which at this stage was already pretty impressive despite not yet having fully developed to the point it would on subsequent efforts. From the hateful screaming and dense guitar/bass sludge of "Charmicarmicarmicat Shines to Earth" to the pummeling riffs and downshifting grooves of "The Minus Times" and on through the discordant guitars and more stretched-out song structure of "Red Sea," the band's influences (some of which are plainly acknowledged in the liner notes) show through pretty clearly: the Melvins, Earth, Bastard Noise, Eyehategod, Soilent Green, Neurosis, Coalesce, etc. That it is to say, Isis is drawing on a who's who list of underground heavy-music gurus, and if this EP feels a little bit more like them "doing their homework" than a later album like Celestial does, it still outshines the work of many of their peers. The CD version of The Red Sea contains 21 minutes of additional, non-filler quality material taken from a 1998 demo, bringing the disc's total length up to 36 minutes. Thus, the CD is an especially good deal for Isis fans, though it should be of some interest to fans any of the above-mentioned groups, too. ~ William York, All Music Guide

"In The Fishtank" is an ongoing project of Konkurrent, an independent music distributor in the Netherlands. Chosen musicians are given two days studio time and freedom to do whatever they like musically. On this edition, while both bands are known for their love of metal and post-hardcore with an experimental and spherical approach, they not only show these skills here, but they also add an impressively high level of purity, roominess, and emotion. It's the analog warmth that makes the songs tender, organic, imminent, and fragile.

关于外太空，关于我们生活的地球之外的世界，始终是人类执迷于去发现和探索的领域。在人类的历史中，我们如痴人般不断思考着我们是谁，到底从哪里来又要到哪里去的这个人类哲学第一命题。那对于整个宇宙的畅想更是一刻都没有停止过。所以当刚开始接触到《挑战吧！太空》这个节目的主曲创作的时候，我很兴奋但同时也感到有些无从下手。于是乐队的每个人都分头去准备了一些自己根据这一命题而创作的动机和想法。当我们把这些素材汇集在一起的时候，我的聆听感觉是这些素材更多的都是指向了关于摆脱束缚和突破现有极限的情绪和话题。所以乐队据此找到了一个切入点。我们将整个的主曲做成了一个两段式的结构，第一段对我来说更像是描绘了一幅想象中的飘渺未知的外太空景象，它既荒凉也优美。第二段更像是在一片荒凉之中重新一点一滴的构建和向外突破。在配器上，我们加入了一个小编制的弦乐团和合唱团，试图放大一种不同人把力量汇聚在一起共同发力的状态，所以最后的混音制作，我们也是把它交给了远在瑞典的制作人Kristian, 他同样对这一命题的音乐非常感兴趣，所以在最终的混音中他也加入了他的想法，并配合着合唱团加入了他标志性的高音吟唱。当最终的母带在瑞典由母带师Magnus完成并通过因特网传给我再次聆听的时候，我非常感动，不同于之前所做的任何配乐，它汇集了那么多人的想法和劳动，这就像今天我们的宇航员能离开地球，迈出一下步进入外太空一样，背后是无数人工作研究和探索的结果。

The conflict and correlation between dark and light is a universal theme with a historically rich history. Musically, perhaps no band in the 21st Century has mined that relationship more consistently or effectively than Japan’s MONO.
Across 10 albums in 20 years, MONO have convincingly reflected the quietest and most chaotic parts of life through their music. Their ever-expanding instrumental palette – which began in earnest in 1999 with the traditional guitar-bass-drums rock band setup – has evolved to include as many as 30 orchestral instruments. Now, on Nowhere Now Here, the band add electronics to their repertoire – perhaps inspired by guitarist/composer Takaakira ‘Taka’ Goto’s recent collaboration with John McEntire, the beguiling Behind the Shadow Drops. Nowhere Now Here also sees MONO’s first-ever lineup change, adding new drummer Dahm Majuri Cipolla (The Phantom Family Halo) to the core trio of Goto, Tamaki, and Yoda. Tamaki also makes her vocal debut here, singing into the shadows of vintage Nico on the poetically hazy “Breathe.”
The unlikely career of MONO has taken them to virtually every corner of the planet, several times over. Those corners have all left indelible marks on their music, as it drills deeper towards the sound of feeling not quite human and all too human – often at the same time.
