HOOPTOBER NINE! NIGHT TWENTY-FOUR! + 2022 PODCAST MACABRE HORROR CHALLENGE CATEGORY 29: CLASSIC UNIVERSAL HORROR I'm happy I finally got around to watching this one, in certain respects I do think this one has a little bit more creepy atmosphere than the Browning version, lead actor Carlos Villarias makes a compelling title character, and the supporting performers have a little more punch and personality than the ones in the English version. That said, it does feel noticeably less economical in its pacing, to the extent that certain scenes feel weirdly prolonged in comparison. I haven't done a fully breakdown of how much time certain scenes take between versions, but at times it does seem like this one is moving 1/3 slower; It doesn't seem like a big difference at first, but you definitely notice the extra running time.
