MANNVANUARY DEUX #7: At times this one seems awfully quaint from a 2023 perspective, insofar as it's no longer a surprise to see LAPD (or any other LEO) acting like criminals, and it does stagger belief that the movie asks us to believe that Ethan Hawke's rookie is as pure-hearted as he lets on. But Washington completely carries the movie with his performance, even when things start to converge towards action-movie cliche in the final act.
