𝖍𝖔𝖔𝖕𝖙𝖔𝖇𝖊𝖗 𝖝 𝖓𝖎𝖌𝖍𝖙 𝖙𝖜𝖊𝖓𝖙𝖞-𝖘𝖎𝖝: In spite of Nic Cage becoming kind of a bad-acting meme because of the (very correctly deleted) director's cut ending, he was definitely not the problem with this movie. Knowing Neil LaBute's background with Mormonism and such makes me wonder if there's an additional layer to some of the cult symbolism here, but as it is it feels like he took the weirdly subversive messaging of the original film and turned it into a misogynist "women are all out to get us" conspiracy screed.
