HOOPTOBER 3.0 NIGHT TWO: + 2024 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 8: PEPLUM WEEK Possibly the most competently-made of the bevy of the 50s/60s Hercules movies I've seen over the years, with Bava's signature craftsmanship all over every supersaturated Technicolor frame. Herc literally gets two comic-relief sidekicks in this one, and unlike the second/third bananas in a lot of these movies, I actually found them fairly amusing, YMMV. Really more of a fantasy movie with memorably creepy monsters more than a "horror" film per se, but still feels at least horror-adjacent thanks to the presence of Christopher Lee as the (sadly overdubbed?) villain and certain translation choices in the dub script that seem intended to capitalize on Lee's burgeoning genre rep.
