HOOPTOBER 3.0 NIGHT FOURTEEN: After watching most of the mainline Universal Monsters films over the last few years (I stuck to the Dracula/Frankenstein/Wolf Man movies, I'll get to the others later) I quickly realized the parallels to the modern Marvel cinematic universe, including the tendency for the films to become sillier, eventually culminating in this year's Deadpool & Wolverine. I feel like the Abbott and Costello monster films serve a similar function, letting off comedic steam at the end of a similarly long, convoluted, and ultimately sort of tedious horror saga. I'll be curious to see what the other A&C monster crossovers have to offer, since it feels like this puts a decent capstone on the Universal Monster-verse all by itself.
