HOOPTOBER ONE NIGHT FOURTEEN: Hooper coming back to themes of small-town psychosis and American decay that he covered in TEXAS CHAINSAW MASSACRE and subsequent films, which gives this one kind of a going back to the well feeling. It seems like he's having fun with what I assume was a slightly expanded budget from TCM, but at the same time the movie also feels cheaper in being mostly bound to soundstages with a few "real" indoor locations. I am glad that I saw this one so soon after watching Ti West's X, just for its obvious influence on that film.
