a review of 养鬼吃人3：地狱之城

HOOPTOBER ONE NIGHT TWENTY: Finally getting back to this one a good 25 years after first watching it at a college all-nighter. It's not as bad as I remembered, but it is a great deal sillier, and very much tied to an already outdated '80s concept of what was cool/extreme back then. I'll give a pre-"Deep Space 9" Terry Farrell credit for being a pretty tough and memorable heroine, as well as Doug Bradley for changing things up with a nicely ambiguous alternate version of Pinhead. The cenobites though? Pure garbage, and more like goofy Power Rangers villains than the truly unnerving creations from the first two films. From what I've heard about the other Hellraisers that came after this, this is still one of the high-water marks for the later sequels, which makes me wonder what I'll be getting into if I try running the whole series for Halloween this year.
