a review of 死人岛

HOOPTOBER 4.0 NIGHT ELEVEN: Not at all what I would have expected as the capper on both Romero's 2000s DEAD trilogy and his directing career. Doesn't really attempt the social commentary of LAND OF THE DEAD (2005) or the found-footage-riffing playfulness of DIARY OF THE DEAD (2007), but instead opts for a dull Irish-inflected Western tone, with the denizens of an island off the coast of Delaware(?) going through the motions of an age-old family feud amidst the same zombie apocalypse carried over from DIARY. It's not all bad, but it feels like a distinct non-sequitur to Romero's previous DEAD films.
