HOOPTOBER 4.0 NIGHT THIRTY-THREE + PODCAST MACABRE 2025 HORROR CHALLENGE 2. From the 1920s you have not seen Pretty awesome imagery and costuming/FX in the opening and closing minutes, with a somewhat ho-hum middle hour sandwiched in between. Emil Jannings as a high-camp Mephisto makes the romantic farce middle section quite watchable, so it's not THAT much of a slog, but the first 20 minutes really set my expectations to a place where any movie would have trouble meeting them.
