PODCAST MACABRE 2025 30. Lowest rated watchlist Less of a movie and more of a semi-random clips compilation? I'd only watched the first three and was mostly underwhelmed by those, but for some reason I still kind of wanted to watch the whole series just to see how deep the rabbit hole went. But it's right here, this is the bottom, no point in watching further! The way this movie presents footage from the previous films as real history really underscores the degree to which the PUPPET MASTER series canon is extremely wobbly even by the standards of direct-to-video horror cinema. The movies don't have a consistent take on whether Andre Toulon is some kindly old Geppetto type with sweet but misunderstood creations, or a Frankenstein with horrible metaphysical ambitions, or just some weird perverse freak. There's also not really any clear concept of the principles bringing the puppets to life, whether it's a literal soul-transference or a ripoff RE-ANIMATOR serum or just really good craftsmanship. So in a way I feel like I know LESS about the PUPPET MASTER series now than I did before I watched this movie, which is never the effect you want an obvious catch-up entry to have to get people to watch further in the series.
