HOOPTOBER XII NIGHT SIXTEEN BONUS #2: This is the second of Cinemonster's "extra credit" picks for this year's challenge. Somewhat mirrors the current struggle for academic freedom amidst the MAGA shakedown of higher ed, with the forces of witchcraft scheming to take down a skeptical psych prof (played with surprisingly believable squareness by future '70s camp icon Peter Wyngarde) and his wife (Janet Blair), who's been secretly hiding magical charms and wards around their house to protect him. There's also a subplot in which a female student is apparently manipulated into making an obscene phone call to Wyngarde before accusing him of rape the next day, which is immediately debunked on the spot; To its credit, the movie carefully establishes that the accusation *couldn't* have happened this way, so we believe Wyngarde's character and remain sympathetic to him. I do wonder to what degree accusations like this really were taken seriously by British universities of the day.
