10/28 -- The Lego Batman Movie Once again proving the pop culture assertion that all takes on the Batman myth, be they good/bad/serious/campy/surreal, are more or less equally Batman, this movie delivers on the promise of Will Arnett's characterization in the Lego Movie while giving us just a little bit more. The exploration of the family dynamics of the Batman/Robin/Alfred/Batgirl quartet is something that's been done in the comics and various animated series, but never really given more than lip service in any of the theatrical films, and it's great to see it used here. In some ways, I kind of wish this was the last Batman movie of this decade, although with Justice League and at least one more solo film on the horizon, it is not to be.
