a review of 奇特的故事

This one turned out to be a bit meatier than I had anticipated from the trailer. The animation is a bit of a mixed bag, changing styles for each story, but averages out to quite good for the budget. The narration by such horror icons as Christopher Lee, Bela Lugosi (with audio taken from a vintage radio appearance) and Guillermo del Toro was faithful to Poe's language. At times, I felt the fidelity to the text kept the images from truly springing to life, but I appreciated the effort. A nice intro to Poe for your tweens amd teens, but be advised that it is a TV-14 with stylized violence and depicted sexuality, so maybe look for something a bit more tame for the younger ones.
