2019 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 1: FRANK HENENLOTTER WEEK Okay, this one was a crazy escalation of the low rent charms of the first one. It almost flirts with being kind of a heartwarming family movie, with a cast of lovable deformed misfits a la Freaks, but it always stays just grotesque/violent/disturbing enough to fully earn its R rating. The Belial puppet is still endearingly janky in its realization, but the rest of the makeup are legitimately impressive and it's interesting to note the similarities to later films like Nightbreed* and Freaked. *EDIT: Looks like Nightbreed actually came out two weeks BEFORE Basket Case 2. Don't @ me.
