2019 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 37: KAIJU WEEK Even given the circumstances behind this North Korean movie's production, it's a weird one. On one hand, it was undoubtedly designed as propaganda for the ruling Kim regime, with its titular kaiju serving as a kind of heroic strongman figure for most of the film. But then you have the third act twist, where Pulgasari's insatiable hunger for power threatens even the people he set free, and it made me wonder how that got past the North Korean censors.
