HOOPTOBER, NIGHT TWO I didn't really buy the poorly motivated turn that happens around the halfway point, or the weird, vengeful tone of the ending. Or the way the movie never quite makes up its mind about whether magic = cool female empowerment or magic = witches be crazy. And I think that many of this movie's themes would end up being dealt with a bit more honestly and intelligently in the 90s teen horror TV shows and films that followed in its footsteps. But having said that, there's enough going on here (Fairuza Balk's performance, mostly) for me to understand why this movie is something of a cult classic for folks who came of age in the 90s, and on that level I was able to put myself back in that mindset and enjoy it.
