2019 CULT MOVIE CHALLENGE WEEK 38: MONDO MACABRO WEEK The main thing to know about Lady Terminator is that it's an Indonesian sexploitation knockoff of the original Terminator that weirdly swaps out the future cyborg-holocaust backstory of its inspiration for the homegrown mythology of the South Sea Queen, a quasi-immortal succubus with a deadly yen for casual roadside sex and gaudy costume jewelry. And as such it's a memorably weird hybrid that's a must-watch for people who enjoy these kinds of movies, and you all know who you are. Unlike a lot of other VHS-era action knockoffs, this one comes surprisingly close to being a full remake, with whole sequences lifted from the original, and in some cases remade shot-for-shot using practical and animated FX that must have strained the limits of the budget. In a couple of cases, these scenes don't even make logical sense within the film's narrative, but were clearly included because the filmmakers really, really wanted to make their own version of Terminator and nobody told them no.
