HOOPTOBER, NIGHT FIFTEEN: I remember watching this in a heavily-edited form on local TV sometime in the mid-90s, but watching it again now I think I must have dozed off way back when, because there's whole subplots and plot developments that I do not recall seeing or experiencing before. The twists and turns that this movie takes are utterly unreal, starting out as kind of a low-grade Alien ripoff (the movie was written by Dan O'Bannon, so it's understandable that he'd maybe recycle some stuff), before turning into a weird Euro-trash inspired sexploitation pic with elements of Body Snatchers, before finally culminating in a wild Romero-meets-Ghostbusters-meets-Close Encounters denouement. It's a long movie that feels long and it never quite rises above the sum of its parts, but it never stops being entertaining.
