I was really impressed with the direction and the overall feeling of ambiguous dread. It felt a lot like a North American attempt at giallo, albeit without the same cruel streak as in a lot of those movies. The reveal that the killer was literally just *some random weirdo* rather than somebody with a concrete connection to the house or characters upended my genre expectations across a few different axes.
