a review of 鬼玩人

Hooptober, Night Twenty Four: I really appreciate how this plays within the creative space of the original movie, while adding something to it that felt specific and personal to the filmmakers. All of the same tropes and motifs were there and each of the characters got to have a moment that felt inspired by some iconic bit of Ash-business; But in the end this is a story about not giving up on the girl who gets possessed and thrown into the basement in the first reel, and that felt really satisfying to me as a reason for this remake to exist.
