2021 Cult Movie Challenge Week 15: Giallo Week A more cohesive mystery than the first movie in my double feature (Tenebre), with what I would call a pretty good (if also somewhat predictable) twist ending. Argento hadn't gone quite as bananas for gratuitous gore/sex/sexualized gore at this point, so this one almost has the feel of a fun '70s TV murder mystery. There's maybe a few too many red herrings in the mix, and there's a certain amount of padding with several scenes and incidents that end up having no bearing on the plot whatsoever. I had fun with it as a midnight movie, but feel like it might be better suited for a lazy Sunday afternoon than side-by-side with one of Argento's more unhinged stabfests.
